Well, our web gfx chick has buggered off to Europe for a while. Half her luck!

We'll probably replace the position with a full timer but recruiting IT specialists in Cairns is pretty much arse, but web isn't our core business so I'd like to keep contracting out design stuff for a while.

So - anyone keen on making some side monies?

Requirements:

Provide your own equipment & software. You'll need to sign paperwork declaring that you have appropriate licenses to all materials used, and we will need source materials for design elements (ie Photoshop PSDs etc).

Experience producing sweet-looking web designs. You'll be asked to provide samples of your work - we might want to verify that the work is yours but you'll be asked if this is cool first. This is the most important requirement.

Experience authoring Flash animations etc a bonus but not required.

Thorough HTML knowledge. You will be required to produce HTML design templates that use modern structures (css base, div containers etc) that don't f*** up in major browsers from IE6 up.

To avoid being bashed for not providing this up front, pay is likely to be about 40-50 an hour depending on experience / talent, with 6-12 hours allowed on a typical template depending on complexity and client requirements.

This may be a little bit low compared to contract rates in metro Brissie but times are tough and our clients are in regional QLD so we don't get to charge them metro rates.

You'll need to invoice us, but as noted in other threads getting an ABN is piss easy. Its unlikely that you will get enough work to require GST so it should be simple enough.

Workload is variable but you could probably expect a couple of jobs a month I'd imagine based on the web work we're getting at the moment. We're really just looking for a couple of reliable people we can call on as needed to put together a web layout with about a week's grace.

Hundreds of my clients have never seen me or know my name, and the people they did deal with worked in the business for a few months, and then move on to sell vacuum cleaners.

PS I was interested, but I don't own photoshop :(

Last call on this, bending the rules to bump thread and make sure it was seen :) Had a couple of people mention they might be interested, expected a couple more?

I have a few jobs for the next 12 weeks that need design work, will need someone to step up in the next week or so.

Don't make me perpetuate evil and ask a recruitment agency to help :(
