Electronic tattoo display runs on blood

Jim Mielke's wireless blood-fueled display is a true merging of technology and body art. At the recent Greener Gadgets Design Competition, the engineer demonstrated a subcutaneously implanted touch-screen that operates as a cell phone display, with the potential for 3G video calls that are visible just underneath the skin.

That's pretty f***ing cool. So has a prototype been made? Or is it just an idea?

i would prefer if it got power from a paddle wheel that spins from blood flow instead of a chemical reaction but still pretty neat.

That's pretty cool actually if you take it one step further..

Think about being able to program the display to picture an awesome tatt (albeit black and white etc). Can change the image/pattern to whatever you like on the fly!

Eventually, you could probably take the technology even further and have it doing cool animated s***.

Wouldn't it get infected and stuff? Surely your body isn't going to just accept an LCD screen as an ok thing to be inserted in your arm.

It's probably made from a special type of metal/plastic that isn't detected by the immune system.
