I'm not a fan of online petitions, I am not sure they really help.

This issue is probably worth our 2 minutes though even if it just demonstrates that there is a bit of noise out there about the bloody stupid filter. This one was forwarded to me by someone who I tend to respect (Uni professor dude up here in FNQ) so I thought I'd forward it here. I have no idea what "GetUp" do with your email address so use at your own risk.

Just go sign? They're nearly at the 105,000 signature target which is kind of significant I guess, even for an internet petition...

GetUp will continue to spam you on social causes (ie. hippy rallies).

That's the worst I've seen thus far..

Just use a Guerilla Mail temp address in case they want you to verify it. You'll be a statistic in their bulls*** petition, but save yourself from the spam they will inevitably send you.

Thumbs up for the Flash animation on the right of that page though, very cool.

*EDIT* Oooh, they're clever. You enter you email address on the first page, thinking that's all you have to do, then on page 2 you get a form to fill in with your contact details. Then page 3 they give you widgets to put on your MySpace ;-) Their web-designers are good.

BTW, feel free to email me on nocensorship@guerrillamail.org for the next 43 minutes...

*EDIT EDIT* I like this bit at the end of the automatic email you receive after signing up:
PS: You are now part of over 275,000 people who are working together to build a progressive Australia.

GetUp will keep you informed about important national issues and provide ways for you to take action.

Here I was thinking that we were living in a democracy and the way for us to take action is to vote carefully. I'm clearly being mislead.
