Topic: Post-exercise pains, how to stop them?

So I'm in a bit of a jam and probably will be every holidays for the next year(ish), so I decided to ask the wise trolls of qgl.

Basically I'm a trolleyboy, but not at woolworths or any of that soft crap. At work I need to lift the trolleys (about 40-50kg) to stack them into pairs of 3, then walk the two stacks (6 trolleys) about 200-400m uphill depending on which of the 4 trolley bays are empty. Work from 9-4 saturdays, 30 min lunch. Hard f***in yakka ;).

The problem is (on holidays) I don't get any lower body exercise from sunday->friday, so every saturday night it hurts the region from the top-back of my calf to the mid-back of my thighs to the point it hurts to walk.

I'm not fond of the idea of jogging round the block every weekday to maintain my thighs during the hols (I'm lazy), so are there any REALLY easy exercises/stretches/veetameens I can take to ease the pains?

It sounds like you're describing your hamstrings. Stretch them - sit against a wall with your legs straight out in front of you for as long as you can. Sit straighter and straighter so it hurts more and more.

I'm guessing you can't touch your toes when standing upright?

get one of these put a bull bar on it and use that to push the trolleys, my local mall gives the trolley boys a tractor to drive, wtf derro place you work at that makes you walk?

You will get aches and pains either way if you are doing a labor job every day but you could improve things with adequate protein intake and things like glutamine and a multivitamin.

Pft, that's a s*** hamstring stretch, and stretches your calves more than your hammies.

Find a door frame. Lie on your back, and have one leg vertical up against the doorframe at as much of an angle as you can, sitting as close to the frame as possible, and the other leg extended along the floor.

Hold for 2m. Switch legs, repeat x 3.

That'll sort you out. Then you'll just have to sort out your other leg muscles to compensate ;)

Unless this is actually a seriously different job apart from supermarket carpark trolleyboy (which is essentially what you described, minus some vital equipment) quit the job. The amount of money you're earning will by no means compensate you for when you hurt yourself doing this kinda work or when playing sport afterwards.

Unless you're earning like $30/hour+ standard it's a no brainer - get outta there and into the a/c on a register chatting up the sluts there.
