Hi,

Having travelled a fair bit, and knowing how decent good thai can be, I've yet to find a decent thai place. Found some that are nice (place on Hawken at St Lucia and the one at Forest Lake), but nothing purely outstanding. Anyone have any killer thai reststops? Hopefully somewhere between CBD and Ipswich (milton/indro/kenmore all good). Seems like the wealth of food knowledge on qgl is beyond the crappy review sites on google.

cheers

theres one not mentioned there

thai terrace at rosalie in paddington - its good and then you can go next door for gelati (best gelati in brisbane) better yet, just go to wherever sounds good for thai and make sure you go for gelati after assuming you like it that much

although thats not southside. the gelati is worth the trip

I once ordered thai from place in ballina (there is the problem I guess) and it was a hot green pork curry. Well instead of pork they had little tiny pieces of pork mince scattered around the usual thai vegetables. On top of that, while it was hot it wasn't 'naturally' hot. It tasted like they get it all from the same batch, but they just put 'generin hot sauce' on at the end to make it spicy.

Should definitely go Northside to Thai Ayuthaya on Gympie Road, Kedron. Try the Pad Kati. It's amazing

^ hahahahahah, I used to work around the corner from there, always wondered how good the menu was.

Also, all Thai restaurants in brisbane are pretty average, I just don't bother anymore.

Thai Pochana at Bulimba is pretty damn good.

If you want f***ing unreal Thai and are prepared to put your name down a month in advance then book at The Spirit House.
Not sure if Yandina is considered southside though, unless you are talking in relation to the Sunshine Coast :)

edit: Nice my response is exactly the same in Zor's thread.

Thai Terrace in Milton is quite good.

Along Baroona Road, just around the corner from Cold Rock (in the Rosalie Village precinct).

But the Lanna on Beams Road at Taigum... excellent!
Service is good, staff are friendly, food is good, price is inexpensive - they even have a big gold buddha! What else could you ask for? :)

That's the only Thai place I've been to, so I had no idea whether they were reasonably authentic for Thai food. I can say that it was a pretty good dining experience though.

The best thai in brisbane is the place at Rosalie already mentioned. Got a bunch of awards last year i believe and the food is second to none.

Thai-ways at albion is also great.

As someone posted before the Thai Mali on Bennets Road Camp Hill/Coorparoo. I eat there a few times a year myself and so far it's the best Thai place I've come across in Brisbane. I have eaten at many others as I really like Thai food but they've all been less than the Thai Mail in food and flavour. There is another one near the Manly Harbour but it is way over the top expensive, can't remember the name cause I've never been back.

Bangkok Milton is amazing. Thai Treasure in St Lucia is pretty good too.

I refused to eat at Bangkok Milton purely because of the terrible mutl-double-entendre pun in its name. Its like its taken all other Thai restaurant puns and bent them over a table and reamed them.

For similar reasons I also refuse to eat at Bow Thai, Thai-tanic and Thai-riffic.

That's a pretty retarded reason to avoid eating somewhere. That's like refusing to root an incredibly hot girl because her name is Ingrid or something. What's the double-entendre you're referring to? Bangkok? That's the capital of Thailand.

One of my dad's mates is married to a Thai lady, who manages/managed a restaurant in Thailand. She said that Bangkok Milton was the most authentic Thai food she'd had in Australia, which is good enough for me.
