EA have finally grown a brain and put a few games on steam. Maybe the EA version of steam is failing hard?

Publisher Electronic Arts today officially joined Valve's Steam service, with major EA titles such as Spore, Mass Effect, and Warhammer Online all now available for digital purchase through the service.

The games are apparently available without the controversial SecuROM DRM they initially shipped with.

Recent EA releases such as Dead Space and Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 are also listed under the Steam "Coming Soon" section, along with the January 13th-due PC release of Mirror's Edge.

Everyone bow to valve.

Do Valve even need to make games anymore? They must be raking in so much from steam by now...

I actually don't mind the copy protection on RA3. You install it, activate it over the net and once done you don't even need the CD in the drive anymore. If you uninstall it you get that activation back (so I understand) so you could install/uninstall it as many times as you wanted.

I do fear what will happen if their auth servers ever vanish but seriously, it's EA, I doubt they're going anywhere within the next 5 years.

This is good news though, I like being able to just copy my entire steam dir around when I format and have to just install the tiny steam client when I format and copy the steam dir back again and have all my games ready to go.

I'd just like to add, this weekend STALKER SoC is available for $3.74US.
If you haven't played it then try it out. At that price it is one of the best deals on steam ever.

It kind of hurts knowing I paid $79.99AU for this once.
I'll just have to look at it as I paid $74.49 for an awesome tin container.
