Just reading Consumer Affiars/ACCC site for interest, ended up here. This is great reading - particularly the food recall defects.

http://www.recalls.gov.au/

Some good food ones:

Product Info: Smith’s Classic Crinkle Cut Potato Chips Salt and Vinegar
Defect Details: Foreign matter-rubber pieces
http://www.recalls.gov.au/view_recall_detail.php?Recall_ID_Auto=16121

Product Info: Angostura Lemon Lime and Bitters and Angostura Lemon Lime and Bitters light
Defect Details: Foreign matter - glass
http://www.recalls.gov.au/view_recall_detail.php?Recall_ID_Auto=16060

Product Info: McCain Stir Fry Vegetables Pasta Alfredo with Sauce
Defect Details: Foreign matter - metal

TBH though, hardly any recalls - about 3-4 a month which is pretty comforting I guess. Presumably they do a lot of testing one hopes.

Wonder how many of these products are made in China. I know that when I was in the US last year there was a story in the media stating that 60% of all product recalls in the prior 12 months were from china.
