Hey,

Came across this article this morning, although it came off ninemsn it was still an interesting read.

The implementation of a top-down ISP (Internet Service Provider) level content filter has been on the Labor party's agenda before it came into power with discussion of a filtering scheme first aired in 2006 as part of its cyber-safety policy plan. Although the mandatory filter is one part of an otherwise widely supported initiative to protect children online and stem the spread of child pornography, the communications minister, Senator Stephen Conroy, seized on Labor's emphatic election win to put the scheme forward within weeks of coming into office.

It's very clear the filter won't be legislated already. It's not worth even thinking about.

A watered-down version might, say a small list of domains for DNS-based blocking. Doesn't sound like much but it will get their foot in the door for further expansion later on. That's something not many people consider ...

I'm sick of hearing about this.

The only people that support it are the old c***s in parliament who don't understand anything about the net. They probably wouldn't even know the difference between the internet and the web.
