Hai guys, got myself an iPhone as per previous thread. Only thing bugging me is the massive f***en earphones that came with the phone, they're huge and they hurt my ears after 5 minutes of use :( What I'm after is the smaller round rubber insert type earphones that you will find with the sony ericsson walkman mobile phones..

Is there something similar that is compatible for the iphone with an inline mic aswell so I can answer calls etc

I've got Sennheiser CX300 (which are damn good) but there's an iPhone version with a mic at http://store.apple.com/au/product/TR530ZM/A?mco=MTIxODk3Mw.

SuperFi4vi from headphones.com.au

The price is painful though! $239.00!

You mean the in-ear (canal) ear buds?

Compatibility Information

The remote and mic are supported only by iPod nano (4th generation), iPod classic (120GB), and iPod touch (2nd generation). Audio is supported by all iPod models.

So... what about iPhone? What's the point in giving iPod a mic and iPhone not, Apple? Once again, Apple surprises us beyond our wildest expectations...

with the CX300 does the answer/end button also act as play/pause/FF like the iphone mic?

Not sure. The called the MM50 but theyre basically a CX3/4/500 with iPhone mic stuff. CX300 own btw. Most comfortable earphones I've used and very good frequency resonse at all frequencies.

I tried some "expensive" sony SL90EX or something like that and A) they didnt fit in my ear properly and didn't block out half the noise like the Senns but also the sound was way too tinny.

i bought the sennheiser ones for the iPhone and they sounds pretty good. only thing i don't like is the mic/button is a little bit big and doesn't look as streamline as the default iPhone ones.

The reason the in-ear phones from Apple aren't listed as compatible is because beside the mic and button for play/pause/forward/previous, they also have buttons for volume +/- which the iPhone doesn't support. That said they are supposed to still work with the iPhone, you just won't be able to adjust the volume with clicker.

Tried them all. Still wasn't comfortable and sounded crap.

kungfucamel, does the button act as remote for iPhone's iPod or is it only for call functionality?

nats - yeah you can use it for iPod control - so click to play/pause, double to next track and triple to previous.

I picked up a set of the sennheiser today. They are very good. I found I had to hold the standard iphone earphones against my ear when going through tunnels on the train when watching tv shows, but with these I have to keep my eye on the time to make sure I don't miss my station as basic train noises and announcements can't be heard.

thanks for making me aware of these iphone earphones with mic, when i first checked there was nothing available.

Hrm those cx300's are tempting.

My ears are mong, regular stock headphones won't stay in. They just drop out after 10 mins. I'll just be sitting there listening to tunes and plop out it falls.

I have a cheapo set of those wraparound ones but they won't fit under my moto helmet.

For those of you who want quality in-ear headphones (without the iPhone button), you simply cannot go past these:

http://cgi.ebay.com.hk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270311132254&ssPageName=ADME:B:FSEL:HK:1123

Has anyone tried cheapo in ear headphones with a button for iPhone? Now that I have used a $5 non-iPhone pair that are better than my $200 non-iPhone pair, I don't want to spend more than ~$20 on an iPhone set.

Not sure which ones you're saying to be weary of - the ones I linked to from China, I bought a pair of from that same seller that I linked to, and they the legit earphones and are f***ing tops. I'll check out that thread now though.

Wtf? Not compatible with iPhone?? From Apple's site:
*Compatibility Information
The remote and mic are supported only by iPod nano (4th generation), iPod classic (120GB), and iPod touch (2nd generation). Audio is supported by all iPod models.

From that engadget article:
They've got a built-in remote and mic -- yet curiously aren't compatible with the iPhone --
