Do any of you download video's from sites such as Youtube? If so what are you using to do it?

I have an interest due to my type of work in downloading video's such as this one.

I'd like to be able to d/l them so I can turn them into something I can use at work to highlight safety issues. Plus to point out how easily things can go wrong. I am forever trying to convice certain work mates of the importance of safety and at times it just doesn't sink in as you can tell from the bemused look on their faces, you know the typical it won't happen to me s***. As you all know people rarely take something seriously until they see it with their own eye's.

Anyway any help or suggestions on how to download this stuff would be great, thanks. Oh and yeah I saw the link to download it which takes you to some free software but as always I don't touch anything without asking others what their opinion is first.

Thanks

If you use Firefox, you can get the DownloadHelper addon. When you're watching a YouTube video, you rightclick anywhere on the page and the file will be in there. Click it and save. It works for pretty much any embedded video.

Install the Flashgot extension for firefox. When a flash vid plays it will give you a little icon in the browser tray that direct links to the file. Easiest way imo and works for most sites.

Eh, Most people still just laugh at these Vid's and think it wouldn't happen to them anyway. Most people are correct in their thinking. It really does take a special kind of stupid for some of the stuff that happens in these Vids.

If you're a WHSO then (almost) fair enough showing these things. If you're just a workmate, unless you're going for entertainment, there's no reason to go making people watch these things.

Good intentions still don't mean it's OK to violate copyright, so make sure the videos you are downloading allow it to be redistributed.

I have a couple of kids that work along side me on a day to day basis. They have little to no experience in heavy industry and what the company teaches them is pittiful and borders on outright negligence. These are good kids and I want to make sure I do what I can to try and keep them safe. Raising awareness is absolutely key to a safe work place. If a video such as the one above causes even one of these guess to pause for just a split second to think about what he is doing it maybe enough to save a life.

You know the old saying about givng a man fish you feed him for a day but you if teach a man to fish you feed him for a life time. Well safety is exactly like that. I want to see these young gusy learn enough so they become more aware of whats going on around them and are able to spot possible problems way ahead of time.
