i'm amazed he could even do that, isnt that what synco's are there to protect against? if you cant get the engine/gearbox in sync it wont mesh to the new gear, or do i have that bit wrong?

Other way around, syncro used to sync the two together or else you would have to rev match.

probably not, just thinking that it went into gear and the engine couldn't spin fast enough and caused the braking effect. Another reason to get a rwd, the back wheels would have probably just lost traction as they started to turn slower than the cars travel speed.

i think if you jam a car into the wrong gear at redline and dump the clutch, losing traction is the least of your problems
