All,
Wanting to know a little about the side benefits of being a shareholder in companies. I know that Westpac provides some benefits to its shareholders, and i'm just wanting to know if you know of/hold some shares in companies that provide benefits to shareholders other than just dividends. |

I think they killed it, but Coles Myer used to have a shareholder's discount card?

First google result: http://www.apesma.asn.au/newsviews/professional_update/1999/november/shares.htm
Edit: In my rush to be a "just google it" tool, It's actually from 1999. But maybe check out their websites and see if they still offer it? last edited by Fireblood at 17:47:09 29/Oct/08 |

Yeah I found that as part of my googling too Fireblood, and yes, the 1999 made me go, oh, lame. I know the Westpac one is pretty similar still, as mentioned.
Particularly I'm after people who actively use the shareholder benefits of their shares. I thought i remembered the coles-myer one hoggy mentioned, but i also thought that went with the split between coles and myer. |

Yeh Mr H, its also looking a bit more dubious as Coles are gonna merge with Wesfarmers. Used to be pretty good, 5-10% across the Coles empire (Coles, Target, KMart, Bi-Lo etc).
