I have an iPod here with a bunch of how2speakFrench mp3s on it. They are just added like regular songs, so when I put the thing on shuffle I randomly get French lessons amongst the music. Needless to say, it makes playing in shuffle mode almost pointless.

Is there a way I can reassign these mp3s so that they're audiobooks or something so they don't play when I shuffle (note: I only have the songs on my iPod, not on this PC - ie, they're not synced from this PC)?

Um.. You could create an on-the-go playlist with all your music minus the audiobooks? Just add all songs and remove the audiobooks (i think you can do that).

If you only have the ipod to play with then the best you can do is add what you want to a playlist..

failing that then get one of the ipod-get-stuff-off-to-unauthcomputer proggies (i dunno, vpod?? There used to be a cool plugin for winamp) and then set the properties of the file in question to be 'podcast' and it won't appear in the shuffle list (I'm not sure if you need to sync the files to be able to change their properties.. I've never had to, if you don't then what i just said is rubbish and go ahead and change the properties to podcast)

f*** yes Farseeker! That's exactly what I was looking for. I actually tried that but must've completely missed that option (and was about to whine about iTunes being s*** for not having something so obvious - guess I'm just blind).

cus it sux. you could try having itunes in the tray rather than taskbar? or you could try find some sort of itunes plugin...
