Just a heads up there's a storm on it's way. Now, there's no need to be scared but some of you guys will prolly die a horrible death but to the rest of us just be calm and it'll all be over soon.

Started falling pretty hard out here at ippy.. lightning thunder etc.

Rain started dripping down inside the window (gutter overflowing).. sitting at my pc then start feeling drops... *sadface*

Definatley it does, However the body acts as a Faraday Cage, so as long as your not touching the body, you'll be okay.

There are youtube videos of a van being struck just driving on the highway.

I wish I had the camera out, because three hit our block and many more were quite close, it was a real light show.
To those of you who do take pictures of lightning, how do you do it?
Do you use a tripod and just take a few seconds time-lapse shots over and over, or just a quivering trigger finger?

Pretty much. Tripod + long shutter + high-speed burst mode, so the shutter is open more than it's closed. Active storms are real easy - if there's a lull for any period then there's a good chance of the next strike being a nice big one, so you can preempt them to some extent.

That was f***ing insane.

I spent 4 hours driving around in a f***ed up postie van in that storm, must have been at least 15 intersections/lights that were completely out, absolute chaos.
