So aldi is having a sale this week and one of there specials seems to be a bit too good to be true.
Bauhn 32" FULL HD LCD TV $899 Full HD resolution 1920x1080 In-built High Definition tuner Hitachi LCD panel Typical contrast ratio: 1000:1 Brightness 450cd/m2 Response time: 6ms Display colours 16.77m colours Aspect ratio: 16:9 Picture formats: 16:9, 4:3, Zoom 1, Zoom 2, Panorama Viewing angle: 178°(H)/178°(V) Teletext Stereo Speakers: 2x 6W Connections: 2x HDMI input, 2x AV input, 2x Component input, 1x S-video input, 1x RF tuner, 1x USB, 1x VGA input, 1x PC audio input, 1xAV output 2 year in-home service warranty Seems pretty good to me so far although the brand name sounds cheap/foreign and a couple a months back they had a 42" version for $1299 anyone know if the quality is good or can be trusted or would I be better off wasting the money to get a named brand one? |

You would be better off buying a name brand, but... the specs for this one look okay.
I don't think 1000:1 contrast ratio is particularly good... and you can sometimes get a good panel, but have s***ting electronics powering it and end up with a s***ty lcd. last edited by mongie at 12:51:50 13/Oct/08 |

Well for $999 I could get a 32" LG but it's not full HD 1080p etc, but Aldi does have the 60 day money back thing so if it's s*** I can get my money back with no worries.

I personally would rather the Panasonic/Samsung or LG at around the same price. They are not Full HD though but could you really tell the difference on a 32"?
2 year in-house warranty does sound good though, but do they have they have the service to back it up? |

On a 32" no but anything bigger I would assume you could (went into harvey norman and the onyl difference I could tell was when the screens started to hit 46"+) but they have the 60 day return policy so it's good to know if it sucks balls I can return it

Wonder why Hitachi would make a 32" 1080p panel and not sell one themselves?
I'd say it's a 1080i panel which means it's only really 720p. Especially since it doesn't specify, you'd think if it was progressive they'd want to advertise it. |

Just because hitachi don't sell a specific panel does not mean they don't make it...
It says its 1080P, it probably is. |

Huh they do advertise its 1080p? Some TVs are advertised as Full HD 1920x1080i, others are 1920x1080p. |

most cheap panels that say 1080p, they usually mean it accepts 1080p, but downscales it internally

Well if you've got another couple of hundred dollars to spare then, to my untrained eye, this looks like it's far better value:

Bought one the other day. Excellent is all I can say. It is 1080P, and HD content looks unbelievable. Forget the "aldi" thing, you have nothing to lose, but you could save plenty of $$$$. P.s. PS3 gaming rocks on this little mutha.

Mate, I bet you had one post once upon a time as well, and the only faeces I smell is coming from between your ears. I went out of my way to give a bit of unbiased feedback on what I believe to be a very good value bit of gear, and you shoot it down, without any experience of the product. If your an example of the type of person on this forum, this post is my last. Adios. |
