For about $1000 you could get a decent set up in your own place.

Yeh I don't get that mentality... People are willing to drive ~10/20 minutes to go to a gym, but they won't walk to the garage. Or maybe the same people who won't walk to their garage are the ones who only go to the gym once a week.

home gym is balls. No way you get a decent setup for $1000 try $10k.

You can use heavy cans of tinned food as hand weights, do some situps, and go for a run.

I'm confused. Are yellow_feet and heavy_rocker the same person?

Never Gymless is a great book on training at home with minimal equipment. Of course this is not good for body building and you will need a resonable set up for that. But if you are doing it for sports performance never gymless will do the trick.

2nd hand power cage, adjustable bench and 300kg of plates and you're set for life.

Yeah it'll do the job but you need variety to mix up your training make new gains etc. Can't see too many noobies squatting and deadlifting their way through the week either.

oh i agree a gym membership is better for some, and that's what I prefer as I feel really focussed when I go there. Just saying you could comfortably get all the equipment you really need to get big for under $1K :)

I don't need any equipment to get big, I just eat lots and sit in front of the TV.
