I am with ANZ, they do unlimited transactions for like $5 / month. Im a student though....so free for me.

Not sure if it counts over-the-counter, but who does that anymore?

Please elaborate as I'm about to switch to them (as a student). They have a better interest rate and no monthly fees for the student savings account and credit card than who I'm with atm (anz). So it would be nice to know what's wrong with them :)

I'm a student and they still charge me :( I'm sick of ANZ sending me out letters saying I've been approved for some overdraft thing. Just because I'm poor doesn't mean I'm going to overdraw my account dammit.

They charged me for an overdraft thing when I didn't even know that was enabled. I went and complained and they reversed the penalty and turned the feature off.

Though I'm still s***ty that I can't view my transaction history for my Visa Debit account online between around 11pm and 1am. It just says "unavailalbe", but my Savings account shows it fine.

Taken your student card in to show them every year?
I have been a "student" since I have had the account...(like 8 years maybe?) maybe they rollover the no-fee thing but new people get pwned?

Also my Visa Debit card gets charged like...3 bucks instead of 5. But come to think of it, i don't think i get charged for that either!
Also I didn't register my student status with them for like 9 months...and they backdated all the fees! Pwn!

I just switched to Suncorp a month or so ago, I'm loving it. Visa debit is great, sub accounts are handy, phone service is EXCELLENT and staff are very friendly. I couldn't recommend them strongly enough.

this commonwealth student bank intrigues me. Currently I have a visa debit and a high interest rate low annual visa with ANZ but I still charged for transactions and s***.

What student benefits does the commonwealth have? Tempting because the oxford st branch is hell close to me.

let's see,

only fee you ever pay is if you take out $$ from a random atm, like suncorp atm, or an atm at the vic or something

unlimited eftpos
unlimited withdrawl from comm bank atms

on cc:
no annual fee
some interest rate (no idea what it is)
55 day interest free period

i really don't know what else you jerks want, unless you're too unco to have some decent cash in wallet and wanna get out $20 everytime you need to catch the bus it's perfect

We've been with Suncorp for 7 years and haven't got a bad thing to say. Bank accounts and home loan.

I'm with Bankwest for both my normal transaction account and a credit card.

My transaction account has no fees, and you can use any ATM anywhere to withdraw money with no fees.

My credit card has 55 days interest free, 11.75% interest and 0% interest on balance transfers from other cards for 9 months.

The entire process was painless, and very quick. I don't see how any other banks really compare to what they're offering with a standard transaction account.

I was with National when I lived in Aus, my account is actually still open with them generating small amounts of interest. I found them to be pretty good, and their customer service (even calling from London) has always been very good.

I'd forgotten in Aus you have to pay fees for all your banking... how outrageous!

i think its delayed because the place you bought it from takes a while to get the little reciept and put it in the slot in the bank that says "credit slips"

imo it's electronic but there's some lag due to this
