DBYD would actually be useful if they recorded proper As-Cons and actually knew where their own services are.
Some DBYD plans look like they've beed drawn by 3 year olds.

Optus was blue in the face telling us they didn't have any services in the area.
I informed them I was standing on a 1.5x3m Optus Manhole, with 4 service lines coming out of it. Guy told me I was lieing, organised to meet him on site. "Oh, there is a MH here."

No s*** d!ckhead.

But yes, check DBYD anyway, then it's not your fault if you hit something that isn't meant to be there :) (Also use locators)

/telstra are worse.

who do ya work for scooter?

i was workin on a sub division at slacks creek a couple of years ago for civdec constructions where an 11kV main wasnt shown on the dbyd docs. Woulda been hilarious if we hadnt used a locator, untill the realisation had set in that what's left of the spotter is smoke coming out of a pair of boots, the digging bucket blown appart and the operator looking like yahoo serious havin a bad hair day. The main ran directly under our boxout for the road, but we had a stormwater branch the cut directly across the run of the 11kV. Woulda been BOOM!
