Hey. has anyone heard of Escrow Australia, or better has anyone ever used it. My mate is looking to buy a car, and the selling wants to use Escrow for the downpayment of the car.

I used teh googles: http://www.google.com.au/search?q=Escrow+Australia
http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/pay/payment.html "Recommended for items over AU$375. eBay's preferred escrow partner, Escrow Australia, protects both buyer and seller by acting as a trusted third-party during the transaction and managing the payment process from start to finish. Payment through Escrow Australia is fully protected against fraud or item misrepresentation." Seems legit as long as its that actual site and not a phish. |

Shouldn't the down payment be in something that isn't refundable or able to be cancelled, like cash?
A down payment is suppose to be an intention to buy, in return the seller should stop entertaining other purchasers of the car. If the guy decides not to buy it, he would then lose his down payment, but if it is in escrow that isn't going to happen. last edited by ara at 10:50:35 30/Jan/07 |
