Anyone know if stores have gotten stocks of the Wii or if there's any sort of date floating around for when they'll be available again?

cheers..

If you look around it wouldn't be hard to find one. Every now and again I stumble on a store that have them in stock. Just gotta be lucky i guess

i got my last saturday, went into a few stores in town, had zero luck, EB said they were getting them in march, toys are us half way through feb etc.

my gf stayed at home and rung around, she had to call 20 stores or so but found one eventually - big W at beenleigh.

so my suggestion would be to sit at home and call everywhere. you'll find one. apparently though big w's are a good spot to find them ...

I think you'd have more luck at K-Mart, Target or Big W and similiar places that don't advertise themselves as an electronic boutique shop.

Having played the Wii a few times now, I can easily say the novelty has warn off and I'm glad I didn't buy one.

Well I've finsihed all my games, so the only time I play it anymore is when friends come over.

I think all consoles are like that though. As far back as I can remember I've always been "dieing" to play a console - get one and play it like mad for a few weeks straight then the usage tapers off to a more acceptable/social level :P.

I dont think thats the consoles fault, I think thats more a function of how many games followed it up after release. A lot of consoles launch, with a reasonable selection of launch titles, then theres a dry spell for a few months before the regular stream of ongoing releases catches up. I haven't been playing my Wii much lately either, but I'm sure when new games start coming out more regularly and theres more games on it to actually play (more games that aren't just novelty "hey look, you can move the controller around!" collections of minigames), I'll play it a lot more.

I played NFS:Carbon for about an hour before shelving it and Zelda for about 10hrs total (over 2 or so weeks) before shelving it. Neither game completed.

But that's not because I'm bored, it's because I don't have the time. I continue to play Wiisports a few hours a week as it's easier just to turn it on and play for 5 minutes than the other games.

but dont you have to plug the gamecube controllers into the top of the wii? id rather plug a classic into the wiimote.

yeah the GC controllers have really short cable too...

but i would rather use them and wait for wireless classics that i dont have to plug into the wiimote.

Wavebird's at dvdcrave.com.au for $39.95.

I am going to hold out with my wired one for now. I will cross my fingers they take some kind of position on GameCube controllers. Possibly re-marketing the Wavebird, releasing a new Wavebird, or permitting the use of classic controllers.

Yes, I guess that could maybe be a problem if you sit a long way away from your console, but I don't so it hasn't bothered me yet. Also, I think the classic controller looks like an uncomfortable to use, overpriced piece of s***, so it doesn't appeal to me on any level really.

wii question: will US component cables work here?

I bought my classic controller for 19.95 - hardly over priced.

d0mino: You can never say for certain but I can't see any reason why they wouldn't. Besides, just jump on eBay and buy the cables for half the price.
