Okay, iv been reading a lot of benchmarks and they seem to be all saying differant things.

I want to know what one of the fastest motherboards around is.

I was looking to getting a A7V266 with a 1.4 gig athlon.
Anyone reckon there is a better mothboard than that for AMD?

As much as the nForce is something revolutionary. (Seriously, when I heard the specifications of it, it honestly blew me away!).

It can be conclded that the nForce is indeed vaporware for at least the next YEAR or so.
Sure nVidia are going to release a nForce sooner, but if you read the specs (which mysteriously are hard to come by), it's a canabalised piece of s*** - so crap is it that it looks like any other el-everything-on-chip chipset that is out there. Almost like the stuff that *gasp* SiS make.

nVidia are indeed in a severe state of denial as WarT mentioned. Not only are they going to cut back a LOT of the functions on it (Bye bye 5.1 sound - hello AC97 s*** 8bit mono, bye bye dual LDT bus - hello castrated LDT no faster than PC100 DD), they are having troubles trying to actually fab it.

Q:I want to know what one of the fastest motherboards around is.
A: A motherboard that has the KT266A chipset!
You cannot go past a mobo with the KT266A.
Don't even think of touching the KT266 (non-A) release, it's got bugs riding through it everywhere, and is no faster than a el-standerd PC133 Athlon mobo.

Okey dokes, here is VIA's KT-266A chipset summary, and here is VIA's list of all mobos with said chipset (on the right), and apparently ASUS have no info on thier site about the so-called A7V 266A... So I guess my post hasnt helped...

Meh, bite me. :)

I'd look at Abit's KR7-Raid, Epox's 8KHA or the Asus. Alternatively you could try to find one based on the SiS 735 chipset. They're supposed to be pretty damned fast. But for my money I wouldn't buy a mobo for the next couple months. Let them get their latest revisions on the shelf.

If you want to read an interesting article on the VIA kt266A chipset try this.

The SiS 735 chipset ain't too bad. If your desperate for a mobo right now - any motherboard with that would do the trick.

For starters, what you just said is a rumour.. worse more is that is over 2 months old. AND has been said otherwise by nVidia.

And what are you talking about when you say bye bye dual LDT bus? I have never heard about this happening.

Sif the nForce wont rock. But in the meantime, the KT266A is a good buy.

Unleaded, stop trying to make ppl think you actually know something, and stick to the facts.

Hey Eds I saw on Reactor Critical that Abit expect to release an nForce based mobo in December. Whether it comes out on time is anyone's guess though.

Eds, heres the list for your mobo from best to worst:

1. KT266A (Fat chance of getting one)
2. SIS 735 (You might locate one, but I couldn't)
3. Epox 8K7A / Abit KG7 with the AMD 761 chipset
4. KT266 (STAY AWAY FROM THE BUGS)
5. Ali Magic (Did anybody actually buy one of these?)

As far as the nforce is concerned I wouldn't hold your breath because Australia normally gets all the new tech stuff late...
