We've had a couple of DVDs skipping at work lately and as far as I can tell there aren't any bad scratches on the DVDs themselves, so we are thinking it might be the players which haven't been serviced in a while and are quite old (but very good).

Is there such a thing as a DVD cleaning kit for players, and how much are they, and do they work?

seems like a bit of a silly question?
Theres no physical contact between the player and disc for reading it... about all you could do to clean it is remove the housing and use a very fine camera lens cleaning cloth and maybe some isopropyl alcohol to clean the laser... though you'd probably scratch it anyway :P
likely your lasers are just wearing out anyway

So would the problem either be dodgy DVDs, or a worn out player? Would you suggest a full service?

You can buy cd's that have a small cleaning brush thingy stuck to the disc. Put it in the player and as the lens moves across to read the disc it brushes across the cleany thing and whips of any dust.

well, try the dvds in a different player of course, and eliminate the possibility of a bad disk... but if the players themselves are screwing up, it's worth getting them serviced.
