I watched it today and enjoyed it. I just wished the trailer didn't spoil the storyline so badly!

It could have done with less action (ie: bullet-dodging, racing) and more intellectual content. As in, I just found it a bit predictable at times, but it stayed interesting.

Otherwise it was great and Scarlett Johannson was extremely distracting ^_^

Yeah, I really really liked it to. I didn't expect much except for some cool effects and action sequences, but its actually a really good movie. Also has some of the best chase scenes I've seen for ages.

havnt seen it yet sounds good tho so will.
however pain in the ass how they ruined it so much by giving away EVERYTHING in the only trailer(of the island) i saw before war of the worlds started at the movies.

They just bagged the s*** out of this on Triple-J. They said the director has a bad rep for ripping off other movies and can't come up with an original idea of his own. Might still go see it though !!!

# Untitled Transformers Film (2007) (pre-production)

# The Island (2005)
# Bad Boys II (2003)
... aka Good Cops: Bad Boys II (Malaysia: English title)
# Pearl Harbor (2001)
... aka Pearl Harbour (UK: promotional title)

# Armageddon (1998)
# The Rock (1996)
# Bad Boys (1995)
# Shadows and Light: From a Different View (1992) (V)
# Great White: My...My...My... The Video Collection (1991) (V) (video "Call It Rock N' Roll")

This movie was rad, I didn't expect much from it, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The chases were awesome, and there are people getting hit in the face constantly. It even has a nail gun! NAIL GUN!!! :-O

Oh yeah, good story too :P

The directors are Jerry Bruckheimer (Armageddon, The Rock, Bad Boys, etc) and Michael Bay (Top Gun!), so sif complain! But then if it was Megan Spencer doing the review it makes sense, shes clueless. I remember her raving about how incredible Matrix: Revolutions was, nuff said.

I didn't find the movie to be all that un-original, I loved near-future world they had created. It was futuristic, but at the same time still very believeable and real. Although the MSN Search booths were going a bit far, sif they wouldn't be Google booths!

***SPOILER***

I would have like to have seen the ending extended abit more with the president's clone and all the other clones to see what would have happened.

Also each 'insurance policy' cost $5 million right...See how many people that where down there, doesn't really add up.

Plot full of holes, ridiculous storyline, but entertaining cos Johanssen is gorgeous.

The Director doesnt come up with the idea for the movie, he (wait for it...) DIRECTS IT!
2) Pearl Harbor was a total copy of something, i just cant put my finger on it

Dude having Pearl Harbour, Armageddon and the word 'good' in the same sentence is just plain wrong.

Granted, Pearl Harbor was crap, but sif Armageddon didn't rock. Sure its not an academy award winning movie, but as far as action movies with lots of stuff blowing up goes, it rocked.

Ah, cool. I thought this was sorta gonna be a thinking type movie, not Hollywood trash. I'll wait for a DVD release.

8-)

Also, if you watch Armageddon today, it really, really, sucks. Ben Affleck pretty much ruins the whole thing. At least Bruce Willis was still there.

um, let me correct you on several things, firstly, those first 3 movies were s***e, the rock was the only one barely tolerable. Secondly Jerry Bruckheimer is the producer not the director, and a crap one at that. Michael Bay was the director, and a very bad one at that and he didn't direct Top Gun, Tony Scott did, brother of Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Alien, Black Hawk Down, etc)

Ah, sorry, I forgot that people aren't allowed to have opinions anymore, I musn't have got the memo. You're right about the producer and director and all that, but then I was just making that stuff up as I went along, if I'd bothered checking imdb first I would have known. Lesson learnt!

In my opinion, The Rock, Armageddon, and Bad Boys 1 and 2 were all really cool, fun action movies. The Island has more depth to its storyline than any of those, and as I've previously said I love the vision of the future they've created, but at it's heart its still an action movie and it performs admirably.

Seeing as how this thread has been revived. I LOVED this movie...everybody should go and see it. While it's an awesome movie there were some holes in the plot and the characters.

The rumour is that she is either pregnant or gotten cubby. New idea has pictures of her with a big belly. And if she is pregnant it could be Josh Harnett's... what a spunky kid that would be!
