Now this article is just bizarre and so reminds me of resident evil with no T-virus!

US scientists have succeeded in reviving the dogs after three hours of clinical death, paving the way for trials on humans within years.

Pittsburgh's Safar Centre for Resuscitation Research has developed a technique in which subject's veins are drained of blood and filled with an ice-cold salt solution.

The animals are considered scientifically dead, as they stop breathing and have no heartbeat or brain activity.

But three hours later, their blood is replaced and the zombie dogs are brought back to life with an electric shock.

Whats more scary is the fact they want to trial this on humans next... :)

I actually sent a complaint to news.com.au about this story.

f***ing Zombie dogs! what a load of steaming journalistic s***.

The fact that they used the title 'zombie dogs', coupled with the most aggressive 'dog snarling' picture they could find in their archive is a serious insult to real journalists everywhere, not to mention the scientists who have worked on developing this new technology.

They know that a title and picture like that will evoke negative/scary mental images in people (like the person who mentioned the resident evil T-virus) and they play on that fear. Unbiased reporting my arse!

What is to say that the dog would be a snarling, aggressive killer (which is what we imagine a 'zombie dog' to be like) after being 'reanimated'...I would imagine that it would have the same temperament it had before it was put to sleep.

Oh, and then they mention that they want to trial it on humans, which as a statement in itself is not misleading, but given the way they frame the whole article, they make it seem like this technology is something terrible that should be feared. I mean, who would want a killer zombie dog, much less a killer zombie person ?

I guess the story wouldn't have the same shock-value if it was called "Scientists use new technology to reanimate dead animal" with a picture of a sleeping Labrador puppy.

Yeah, I know all news is sensationalist, but this just ridiculous. f*** you news.com.au!

korbs, just look at what the news is doing with all these 'dog attacks' and BSL. It is rather patehtic, but that is what they consider their job to be. Feed the masses what they will eat, not what they need.
