spoilers

basically from what i gather he somehow - using what he had learnt from the crazy woman i assume, worked out how to travel back in time, and didnt get out of bed and go wandering that night the jet engine fell on his house. Therefore he died, never met the girl, and she never died.

simplist way to put it is basically he sacraficed himself for the girl... btw, did you watch the standard version of the extended version? the extended version is kind of better given that there are extra seens, the only things that bring it down are the fact that the intro song got changed to never tear us apart by inxs and i didn't really like the grid added to a few of the dream state scenes (i think thats how you'd describe them), like the grid they put over the screen when you see the engine falling through the time tunnel near the end, it makes it difficult to tell whats going on, i had to explain it to my girlfriend because thats the only version she's seen.

I haven't seen it for a while, but by staying in bed, doesn't he also save his family who are in the plane that the engine comes from- because everything is going to be different from when he dies.

I never laughed so hard in my life, when the chic got run over by a small car...and out steps a clown...

Think I ruined the movie for those watching it with me.

haha@bassman.

If you have the Director's Cut DVD watch it with the commentary on. He explains everything, and the commentary also has the director's good friend, Kevin Smith of Mallrats and the like fame. He asks some really good questions that he didn't understand about the film and the director answers them. He also asks questions that people posted on his website about hte film. Very educational.

For what I gathered, the engine coming from nowhere created a rip in the integrity of reality, creating a tangent universe. The tangent universe was going to collapse, and kill everyone, so Donnie used his powers to create a wormhole, and drop the engine back in time to prevent the glitch in reality. Some of this doesn't make sense, I know, but the explanation that he sacrificed himself for the girl doesn't make sense either.

^what he said. That's what the director talks about. But the girl dying I think was the final straw for Donnie to travel through time.

N-dude is on the right path.

That's not entirely correct, him dying isn't saving the girl, he's already altered the situation by going back along the skewed path (the blackboard scene is good) and saved everyone. In the original version Richard Kelly says that by killing Frank he did this and that the honk is 'perhaps' a signal to Donnie "that it's ok, it's over you can get up and celebrate." However, the one thing I still don't get is that why was Frank (the bf) the key. There's so many other things that you can think of, like bf Frank is actually playing the bunny Frank in Donnie's head as he's just a f***ed up kid etc.

Yeah, they keep them under their caps.

The first time I saw DD I was really pissed so i was laying back on a sofa and shut my eyes and half went to sleep. I didn't really get it at all as I wasn't following but when I watched it a second time I remembered all the scenes and stuff but I had no idea what it was about. Kind of ruined it but it was weird.

The first time I saw Super Troopers I was so f***ing drunk I didn't know what was going on. The second time I saw it I laughed my arse off cause I understood both how funny the film is and how fkn stupid I was the first time.
