Just found out recently that Funcom is letting people play the original AO (sans expansion packs) for free until January 16th 2006. The only catch is that you can't visit the areas in the expansion pack. So anyway I downloaded it and I've been playing a fair bit of it and its not too bad. The only problem I have (and I'm sure some of you will find this amusing given the game's history) is that occasionally for no apparent reason it'll quit to the desktop. I checked the games error logs and nup not a hint as to why its doing this.

Anyone know why?

Well I'm running XP3500 (Barton), 1 GByte RAM and 9600xt and this a near-fresh install of XP. Its really bloody annoying because it'll sometimes repeatedly crash in one area and I'm not able to get my char back until I login after a while :/.

It sucked on release and thus lost alot of fans.

It had potential.

What if i reply as Goody #2, then no one will know it was me ?

Also Hunter are u playing in window mode ? I wonder if all you are playing is the original version if all the patch fixes that stopped the game dumping like that happened when NW expansion got added ?

Have you had a look around the AO forums? They may have some tech support FAQs stickied that could help.

It is your computer attempting to resist your attempts to fully turn to the gay side.
