More News from Dice

The release date of Battlefield 2 has now been set to June 2005 (June 30th according to amazon.com). This implies that Digital Illusions will not be making any game releases in the first quarter of the current year.

...

In February 2004, Digital Illusions entered into a cooperation agreement with the New York-based games developer Trauma Studios. Trauma worked as subcontractor to the Company for material to the Battlefield 2 game. Costs related to the partnership amounted in total to SEK 4 million, which have been charged to the Company's results in 2004.

...

At the end of September, Digital Illusions announced that the Company had sold a development license for the technical platform from the Battlefield 2 game to Aerotech Telub, a Saab company. The sales price amounted to SEK 4 million. The license implies that Aerotech Telub shall have the right to use the technology to develop training simulators for the Swedish National Defense. Digital Illusions does not have any future commitments regarding the contract apart from a minor support function.

Digital Illusions' Battlefield game series is under development for Playstation2 and Xbox. It was announced in the middle of July that the Battlefield: Modern Combat game will be expanded with a single player component. Digital Illusions received a significantly increased development budget from Electronic Arts and the release was postponed by one year to the fall of 2005.

...

During spring 2005 an upgraded version of Battlefield Vietnam will be launched. It will include the actual game as well as additional material released via internet.

...

In the beginning of September, Digital Illusions purchased the operations of Trauma Studios, a New York-based games developer, and took over its employees. The total purchase price amounted to USD 500,000 of which USD 300,000 was paid initially and USD 200,000 as an additional amount in the third quarter 2006. The additional purchase price was noted in the reporting of the acquisition, in view of that Digital Illusions believes it to be probable that the conditions for the related payment will be fulfilled. The purchase also included the Desert Combat and Trauma Studios brand names. Digital Illusions' New York office is currently working with the development of a concept for a PC game based on the Battlefield 2 engine.

Trauma Studios is specialized in developing strategy and war games. Their modification of Battlefield 1942, Desert Combat, was elected the year's best in both 2002 and 2003 by the global games site Gamespy.com. Trauma has also produced games development tools for Electronic Arts and the US Department of Defense.

Trauma had nine employees at the time of the purchase. This number is planned to gradually rise to about 20 people.
