"For over a decade, Blink-182 has toured, recorded and done non-stop promotion all while trying to balance relationships with family and friends.

To that end, the band has decided to go on an indefinite hiatus to spend some time enjoying the fruits of their labors with their loved ones. While there is no set plan for the band to begin working together again, no one knows what tomorrow may bring."

Not that suprising. They almost broke up before they released their self titled album last year. f***ing sucks though. they were the ones that got me into punk in year 3 and started it all for me. Hope it's only a short break up and things get back to normal. Basically this break up is all over the whole box car racer issue and mark feeling left out. Different members of the band wanting different musical direction. sucks

well box car racer is a side band that 2 out of the 3 guys formed. tom and travis were in it. mark was left out...bascially he got cut that 2/3 of the band was in this side band and he wasn't.

Good charlotte and linkin park have got it covered dude.

Meanwhile I'd say I'm happy blink broke up, but then again I never really disliked their music, just the countless skanks in their blink shirts.. and they'll probably just continue on wearing them.

fuk, they were my fav band back in year 9 (1999), still got some good songs.

its easy to label em and say "good riddance ya emo fuks" but they were fkn good musicians and have influenced a lot of bands since.

I'm not saying their not good musicians, you have to be good to get at the level they were at, i'm just saying, after the release of their new album, they lost my vote.

Blink 182 was awesome and there humour was excellent but i prefered anything from dude ranch onwards some of their old songs sucked severe anus, until they redid them sorta on the tom mark and travis show. in all good things must come to an end.

GC = gayer than fisting firemen nine

mate first date was a much funnier video.

i didnt mind blink.....i mainly listened to dude ranch and prior. i'd say its cause of cheshire cat that i got into punk. i've never been to a concert or anythign though. I only started liking them after they sold out and would only play one old song at concerts.

as if their music sounded the same, the majority of their music were completely different from every song, the bass, guitar, and drums. If you compare them to bands like good charlotte, simple plan, and those other psudo-punkrock bands you will see that blink was/is heads and shoulders above those bunch of tossers. They were very unique too as musicians and as celebrities, and not often that you see many bands that have two lead singers. More importantly they always up for fun that made their albums and concerts so much more entertaining than other craptastic bands.

I dunno, I found their songs boring and impossible to relate to. I guess they were a good show band judging by what people say....

I guess I just hate all those angst 'RAGE AGAINST TEH MACHINE f*** U I WONT DO s***' bands.

I'm not the biggest fan of blink, don't really mind em i spose, definitly think enima of the state was the end of them being good.
However, fpot I hope that didn't actually include RATM in your view of these crappy angsty bands.

They weren't good musicians, but I still really enjoy Cheschire Cat and Dude Ranch every once in a while - anything after that is f***ing terrible.

It's great that they broke up, they sounded like f***ing ass nowadays.

Blink has not split up, travis said it on the kroq radio station, they're just taking a break, go here, on the menu on the left, under Kevin and Bean, click Sounds, and you'll see the travis interview

as what astrobboy just said.

Travis Barker talked to KROQ today and he said this:
- Blink IS NOT broken up and before they announced the "hiatus" they WERE working on material.
- Travis is working on a new album with The Transplants and is also going on Warped Tour with them.
- Tom Delonge is going to keep working on videos. Travis said that "He loves it."
- Mark loves producing music and is going to keep producing.
- Travis said they needed it. He said that it's "healthy", considering they've been continuously on tour for 2 years.
- Travis said that they all needed to spend time with loved ones. He said they all had kids they need to be there for.
- There was no fight before the Relief Concert. He said they all still get along and are like his "brothers". He also said it wasn't a healthy time to be playing shows, considering they've been so active lately.
- MTV is going to air "Meet the Barkers" starting April 6.
- They will be working on a new record down the road, but not now.
- Travis said that the press release was "inaccurate," giving the vibe that they had broken up.

mms://kroq.wmod.llnwd.net/a168/o1/kbaudio/TravisBarker.asf

got this from blink182.com

But this doesn't mean that they have not broken up. They are still on a break, and as of now, are not together. Travis did not say that they will def. get back together

if there is one band gayer than GC, it's simple plan. honestly that first song,

_what the f***_

if that isn't aimed at all the emo little boppers out there i don't know what is.

That whole hardcore scene is the new pop punk. The kids you used to see at punk pop shows now go to the hardcore shows, because it is the trend. Just sheep. Hardcore will never last as long as punk/pop has.

Yeah, mix genres work....hell look at rap/nu metal's linkin park

But this doesn't mean that they have not broken up. They are still on a break, and as of now, are not together. Travis did not say that they will def. get back together

Yeah, i got the vibe, by the way he said it. They are having a break and down the line they will deffinately do something. Down the line = maybe 10 years, something = annouced an award at the grammys. Hell the could never come out and say "we have broken up" plain and simple because they would have 1000's of dead 14 year old girls on their hands.

You, my friend, are an idiot.

Hardcore has been around since the early 80's with band's such as Minor Threat. Pop-Punk was not even close to being born. The closest thing around at the time that could be considered pop-punk was the Ramones, and possibly The Buzzcock's, that is if they were still around.

the whole statement saying that hardcore will never last as long as pop punk is the most stupid thing i've heard in awhile. hardcore has no reason not too last and the kid's in the scene, including me, have gotten into becuase it's a natural progression. you get sick of pop-punk and the sort.

ever been to a hardcore show dude?

the emo/hardcore thing....

The used, my chemical romance and every other band that is trying to be them. Im talking about that, not original hardcore (which is barely around now). The next time I hear some teeniebopper say; "I like the used" Im going to f***ing screen. The used is the trend, these people think they are cool because they are "up with it". I think that makes them look like f***ing idiots if they are following it for the reason of keeping up

use the term 'emo' next-time.

not hardcore.

different things buddy.

and on a sidenote; the used, my chemical romance and those bands are not emo. they are pop-punk themselves. so i don't know what you are on about.

Blink and RATM are completely different genres. Theyre about as different as you could possibly get.

Also, I dont understand how people are comparing hardcore and emo...
Am I missing something, because as far as I knew, emo was Weezer and the like. Isn't hardcore like, s***ty death metal kinda thing? How are they comparable? Or am I mistaking hardcore for something else?
