Just to let ppl's know. The Nintendo DS will be released Thursday. There are no midnight launches.
But most Electronic Boutique stores are opening up @ 8am. Give your local EB store a call to see if they are.

If you pre-ordered you will get the DS+ Metroid Demo pack.

if you get in early enough there should be some spare.

Games for release day:

Mario 64 DS
Spiderman 2
Tiger Woods
Sprung
Rub
(and i think 2 more which i have forgotten)

Look out for Catalogues from most retailers like K-Mart/Big W/Target as they always have them for less then RRP

EB has their price matching aswell as 7 day return policy

I was thinking about getting one but I don't think I'll have enough money by then...stupid taking almost a month to get any kind of money from a job. LAME!

Mario 64DS and Warioware interest me slightly.

I don't really care which one looks better, as long as they have decent games.

I got to fiddle with a DS the other day at kmart and it's bloody addictive. Might have to wait and see what kinda games come out for it first :)

I haven't seen or played with a PSP yet, so I dunno how good they are, but the DS is a lot better than I thought it'd be. I'm pretty impressed by it actually, but yeah, lack of games is a real downer.

What is it with nintendo and launching their consoles with f*** all good games available?

it's something they've been doing for quite some time now isn't it? the N64 only launched with Mario 64, Waverace & some soccer game (and one or two more titles, but buggers me if I can remember them).. the GCN only had a handful of titles available on launch also.. That said, they always seem to make up for it within the month or two following launch.

Bring on thursday!

Ok.. care to show me where I can find a GBA _> SD cart from? Everywhere I seem to see with them never have stock...

Well, I'm sure we won't have long to wait for Mario Kart DS - the video preview someone posted on here a bit back looked like the game was pretty well complete, although why they couldn't just build a new MKart game around the SNES version is beyond me - I still think it had the best handling/"physics" out of them all..

I wonder if any games shops will import DS games and stock them at a more competitive price?

Because if not, I don't see why many people won't just import them from places like Canada?

You can't expect Target/BigW etc to parallel import games from Canada - The Big N of AU would come down on them like a very very heavy tonne of bricks about it.. No more Nintendo license for you.

Well I don't think it's illegal for them to do so? but I was mainly talking about games shops that specialise in games.

Either way I'm buying from overseas :) f*** paying $70 for a game on sd media.

"f*** paying $70 for a game on SD Media"

Thats a broad statement.

its like saying "why pay $99" for an xbox game when a DVD is only $15

Or Why pay $x for a game thats on a CD that only costs 50cents

It's more like saying 'why pay $70 for a game when the same game can be had for $40-$45'

$40-$45 including postage?

How about it you dont like the game, can you return it at all?

Or if you recieve the game and its faulty in any way, can you get it back/replaced within a week?

There are benefits to importing, i just thought it was funny the way you worded it.

(Like ive said in the past) I've already imported my DS

Nintendo releasing a device with a complete lack of marketing and games? Who would have thunk it!

Lack of Marketing?

The most that im aware of since the N64 days in Pal regions has only been TV ads.

I dont know about "normal" TV but the DS add has been on Foxtel for weeks now, it shows up
like every 3rd AD.

We are ~ 3-5% of the market anyway (in Australia) why waste thousands and thousands of dollars on marketing when they arent going to sell alot.

i might get one in a few months when some decent games are out...although it seems only nintendo will be releasing good games, looks like fairly s*** 3rd party support

and sif pay $70 for a game, import from dvdboxoffice for less than $50 (free shipping)

lol, you two complaining about games.

You do know no matter what media its on you will be paying MORE for the game then the media is worth
Whether it be on SD cards CD's/DVD's.

So why start complaining now?

You arent paying just for the media, there are plenty of other costs involved in making a game not just "putting" it onto media.

And yes, everyone likes getting things cheaper if they can, i just find it funny people start complaining about the cost of games NOW.

I could understand games that retail for $119 etc (for the PS2 ) they were even that price back in the N64 days

I saw some f***ed up looking car driving around the city towing a billboard style thing with Nintento DS on it and the car.

Gameboy DS - $200
sd memory adaptor - $35 from nintendo japan
1gig SD CARD - 75$ (wholesale from altech)
New uber battery from lik sang - $35

I'm guessing you're talking in $USD here.. as 5000 yen = approx $AUD60. Unless you've ordered the SD adapter from another place on n.jp that you didn't link to...

Enough with the "yay I can pirate 500 games now" talk. Nobody cares how many copyright laws you can infringe, it doesn't make your penis any bigger, we dont need to know about it.

Khel you might want to check yourself. What you delete was two legit posts that took me quite some time to type out. Just because there are people out there that pirate games doesnt mean you have the right to delete my post that didnt even talk about piracy. It was talking about homebrew and all the benificial things relating to storage for the DS. I'm not going to justify my posts by posting a picture of the hundreds of gameboy cartridges I have on my bookshelf.

Its amazing how members are allowed to get away with alot more because you know them personally or because they have a higher postcount.

Anyways, like I was saying.

You can get an SD adaptor for the DS that lets you watch movies files on the gameboy and lots more. Its pretty cheep and there should be some out here in australia soon enough. There are alot of software exploits being released that allows homebrew to be run on the gameboy aswell so this adaptor in my opinion is a great purchase.

Darkjedi your very right. I got all my hardware while in Japan. I just assumed they would change over to 35$ without posting and handling. Still its very worth the money mate.

Yeah, like the bit where you said something along the lines of "I've copied 500 GBA games". Sure, there was plenty of legit stuff in your post too, but if you dont want the whole thing nuked, dont put stupid comments about pirating games in the middle of it.

Yes yes, I'm sure you own all 500 of those games you copied, but really, I dont care, just dont talk about.

Thats a highly wrong mis-quote. Nicely re worded to sound like I indead did 'copy or pirate games'. In the end I said nothing wrong and alot of information has been lost that contributed to the thread.

The ability for a person to moderate will always be hintered by there own judgment, perception and bios. This I can accept but when logic is denied you have to wonder what the point of removing the post realy was.

I think you should shutup Reverend Evil. You've said that twice already. Stop trying to be a moderator, youre not going to be hard but fair, youre going to be an ass. If anyone should be a moderator its either Einy for his ignorance or caffeinebear for her stupidity (and maybe her kind and gentle heart) . You have non of those. Shutup.

I guess the thread is just going to have to suck it up and continue on without your valuable contributions. It will be a hard, long road I'm sure, but if we're strong and we all band together, I think we might be able to do it.

Its amazing how members are allowed to get away with alot more because you know them personally or because they have a higher postcount.

Yes, they do, because most of them have been around for a long time and they've earnt some amount of respect in the eyes of the moderators. You on the other hand, have not. Deal with it.

james: Why the f*** would you want to pirate a GBA game? I mean; apart from the fact that its illegal, its also OLD.
And its been proven that you can't 'pirate' DS games without a passthrough device, which is uber big and only for the Elec eng kiddos.

Besides, the only DS rom that has been dumped is the metroid demo; mario 64 DS has not leaked yet. Darkfader won't realease a legit game onto the scene.

Got my DS & loving it thus far. Mario 64 DS is lots of fun to play, even if the control scheme is going to take a bit of getting used to.. Wish I had a 2nd one (ds) to play some multiplayer Metroid with, but no doubt there's plenty of chances to come :) only thing I've found disapointing is the lack of other launch titles (which I know was bought up before) worth spending money on.. Would get warioware, however there's an updated version of it called Twisted coming out later in the year.. One game that did catch my eye was the Zoo keeper (or whatever it's called) one - basically bejewelled with animal heads & so forth..

Who else got their DS today?

I got mine about an hour ago, it's actually much bigger than I thought it would be..Warioware touched is pretty good, but very simplistic at the moment the minigames go for about 5 seconds, hmmm..

Haven't got any other games atm.

Thats what Warioware has always been like, s***loads and s***loads of really short, crazy, random mini-games.

Geez, how can you not know that? Are you not the ultimate nintendo fanboy after all?

So apart from Warioware and Mario 64 DS, is there any other launch titles even worth bothering with? The rest of the lineup seems pretty poor.
