I dislike the pop-up effect thing, those websites s*** me.

Why can't it be a 'normal' website?

Aside from that (which isn't just your site - all sites that do that anoy me) looks cool

Hey mate,

Im going to need a graphic designer/web designer for the next edition of my online mag. I did the design for this edition and im far from happy at it.
I will need you for a couple of days in aprox a month and will pay you casual wages.

email me, admin@gusrc.org so i can get your email to message you when we finish articles and are ready to go into production.

dunno domino, i had seen some of your graphical work before and honestly i expected a cooler website :/

its got a nice minimalistic feel, but it comes off a bit uninteresting imo and the javascript popup window doesnt do you an favours. there's no need for it.

however it is very fast loading, consistent and clean. good effort :D

The site is crap to be blunt. I find it boring and the whole popup thing has been done to death. I hated everything about the...popup...I think you should just delete it all and use a fontpage template.

Unfortunately I have to be in complete agreement, the popup thing was a whole rainbow of homosexually orientated colours..
Other than that, nice simplistic feel.

http://www.plaestudio.com/site/frameset.htm

click that to view without the popup, just the frames.

the only reason i popped it out was because all the white space around it is redundant.

Hate to be a bandwagon jumper, but don't like the popup either.

Might be worth automatically populating the page with something as well. Be better to see the first image on your menu than just a menu if you know what I mean.

The pop up thing is annoying.

Also I have a 19 inch monitor and your site is using less than half of my screen. Needs to be way bigger.

Yea...you need to be able to go full screen.

didn't even bother going past the first page. websites that pop up windows waste space and s*** me to tears.

good things:
not too noisy, i didn't feel i was being bombarded with choices
consistent/distinct feel
unique

bad things:
too white (as said before)
difficult to navigate/not intuitive, i had to think too much to use it
fonts are too small, difficult to read as there's no real seperation of elements

i could see this presenting content for teenagers/young adults, or some modern art gallery web site... difficult to see it being used else where

ok so i put a new launch up so it kills some of the way-to-white. if anyone knows any mad html trix, i would like to put the site in the middle of the page surrounded by that pattern.

and thanks everyone for the feedback.

Should be able to replace an iFrame with a div. But I wouldn't bother.

For an "arty" site the way yours is done I don't see anything wrong with using an iframe. I only dislike frames when dealing with an information or reference site where you're trying to bookmark a specific page.

BTW, I don't mind the white. I like a clean, minimalistic approach. I prefered it to the black + icon background you've got now. I wouldn't worry about making the content fill the browser. It looks fine as it is.

A couple more comments;

The little black and yellow "construction bar" looking thing really stands out because it's the only bit of colour. But it does nothing. I kept clicking it expecting something to happen... well I clicked it once anyway :)

I already mentioned it but I'll say it again. I think you should populate the iframe with something as soon as the page loads instead of presenting the user with a blank page. Pick your favourite bit of content and load it or populate it with your about page so the users know what the site is about.

Also, I didn't pick it up but a mate said "what does print do? If I click that link will it print the page?" So you might find people reluctant to click that link.

Hope that helps.
