I've finally got the money to waiste/spend on my car stereo. From the first day I got my car I said i wasnt going to do anything to it untill I could afford to put in my 'dream sterio' in one sitting. Slowly and over two years ive put together a pool of $4,000 and have been doing my research. The next part as far as im concerned is finding suppliers and serious car audio enthousiasts to purchase gear from and to seek advice from.

What im looking for here is serious websites dedicated to car audio in brisbane/australia. I will even take names of places or phone number but not just usless posts saying "JBHIFI MAINZ!" or something equally as lame.

If you can help me out with suggestions for a nice high volume sound setup in a sedan or you know of some resources that could help me out please post a reply and lets get some good talking going on :-)

If you are looking to buy a strathfield/jb/wow type cheap head unit and a handful of speakers, Nundah Auto Elecs'll give ya a good deal on install. Thats where i got my commodore head unit and statesman cd stacker put in for my 1980 toyota corollover rally machine.

$4000? Thats what im looking for saving for my next car!!! I have no idea for a 'dream stereo' though.

Sorry boxhead but I dont want to turn this into a car thread so i wont be posting what car I have, despite being very proud to drive it and alot of supporters on this forum. I hope you can understand this.

I've already read everything over at ocau and may ask there in the future but untill i want a raging bunch of arguing "know it all"'s i'll stay here :-)

Also, Thanks phathead.

No, your just being pedantic. I've already said its a sedan and I can give you all the specs of how many L's is in the cabin and how many is in the boot ect. That is all you should need to know anyways.

Procs... I know a bit about car stereos, I've got a _reasonable_ system in my own car, and I would highly, highly suggest talking with Northfield at MOOROOKA. They REALLY know there stuff, and are very helpful.

Car Audio Australia (as was posted above) is an excellent source of opinion and if you are a member, I believe you get 10% off at Northfield Moorooka. Drew who works there is a champion and is always willing to help.

They sell Alpine, Eclipse, Rockford, BA etc...

What kind of system were you thinking of? Its a bit useless us recommending you places when none of them sell all of the brands...

Mongie, I was hoping for something like alpine. Im a volume / SQ freek not realy into bass because SPL is to easly acheived.

I was thinking some nice componate 6" at the front, some 6x9 in the back parcel and a nice 15" in the boot or maybe duel 10" because i listen to more techno then r&b.

Astroboy does that mean you'll hoiyk it off for 10-20$? What price?

Well, my setup is...

Alpine 9827 Head Unit...
Alpine Type R SPX-176a Component Speakers
Alpine MRV-405 4x50wrms Amplifier
Kenwood KAC-7201 2x200wrms Amplifier

Alpine amp runs bridged with the splits, kenwood amp runs bridged to 550wrms with the jl's :D

Astroboy, personally I think its worth alot more then $40 but if you want to start that low ill give you $50 for it as long as everything works and none of the text has wiped off ect.

Mongie, how do those JL 12" 's go, ive heard that JL are great for SQ?

if your gonna get subs, dont bother with 6x9's. all you will need is some 6" speakers in the back and some nice splits with a 2chan amp up front :)

Also, disreguard what Mattamon says, I would buy 6x9's tomorrow if I could...

limiting factors being... no cash, lack of spot to put them...

worst advice ever, amped 6x9's will give better punch to the bottom end around 80-100hz (depending on your sub and x-over points, closer to 63hz the better) than almost any 6" speaker, physics denotes surface area is the winner.

also make sure you get the best head unit u can afford. More x-over and EQ options the better, 3 band (full) panametric + sub control would be the minimum i'd settle for, prefer 5 band + sub.

I'd suggest talking to SquarkyD in regards to best equipment
for the sound you want. Then id look at sites/locations
that have been recommended here for pricing.
