Oh yeah!!

The 4th season of 24 is out if you hadn't realised and damn, is it good. So far there are four eps out there and all have been great compared to the beginning of last season. Jack's back and so is the lovable Chloe. Apart from them everyone else is new.

It's the same deal as last time with a bunch of terrorists up to no good and causing all kinds of shenanigans with the jack-of-all-tracks Mr Bauer chasing them down and dishing out his own brand of justice. It's funny how Jack always manages to come back to CTU and then break protocol as well as having some type of love interest being captured by terrorists. Well, it wouldn't be 24 if this didn't happen. I'm just waiting for Kim to turn up and either get captured or use her leet hacking skills and save the day.

Anyway, so far the first four eps are worth watching and I'm sure there's gonna be some awesome episodes coming our way.

Yeah, its actually not as lame as I was expecting, some cool stuff is already happening (although the "someone is trying to corrupt the internet" bit had me cringing).

Fors
=====

- Jack is back to being hardcore
- Most of the new cast members seem ok
- By the end of the first episode, Jack has already shot someone.
- By the end of the fourth episode, lots of people have already died, stuff has blown up.
- By the end of the fourth episode Jack has been reinstated into CTU, got the head of field ops killed, broken protocol and become a wanted fugitive, and orchestrated a robbery. Interesting stuff is actually happening!

Againsts
========

- f***ing annoying chloe is still there
- They've introduced another f***ing annoying black chick who is almost exactly the same character as senator palmers wife, and I hate her accordingly.
- "Someone is trying to corrupt the internet"
- Potential for too much personal s*** to get in the way of the action. I dont want to know about the head CTU person's retarded schitzophrenic daughter ffs.

I was a bit uncertain after watching that 'first 24 minutes of 24s4' thing, but the rest of e1 delivered.

This season seems to really be back to basics. You've got jack trying to rescue someone that was kidnapped in the first hour, and tonnes of violence to boot. There's someone in CTU that can't be trusted, and probably someone in the FBI too.

I watched the first ep, rested, then watched 2,3 which left me with a very good feeling about this season, but ep4 lacked something.. still can't wait for next week :)

I thought the scene in ep 3 where Jack uses the sniper rifle to take out those two guys was pretty cool. Seeing two people get hammered from a distance looked awesome and then he casually leaves the scene to go back after the bad guy.

I see Chloe has got a bit of a tan now, but she's still got that sour-puss look on her face.

I watched eps 1 through 4 in one sitting, so I can't really exactly remember what happened in what specific ep, but overall the whole package was pleasing to me.

Yeah, I just watched them all before as well. Around 3 1/2 of sitting here doing nothing.

"- Potential for too much personal s*** to get in the way of the action."

well apparently the chick that plays kim didnt want to do a 4th season so at least there probably wont be too much random kim scene s*** ie: "ill go get chased by a cheeter"

didnt u hear? kim and whats his face are like in europe somewhere for the story line, besides the actress stating she wont be in it, itll be a far fetch for her to come back.

dunno how that guy got a job as a secruity guard only having 1 hand....did they reattach it or something?

Didn't it end with him being rushed to hospital and they were re-attaching it then? Or they said they were going to be able to or something.

The only character I really wish they'd kept was Tony, the new guy thats doing Tony's job just isn't as good :(

Kim and Chase and his baby are living in spain, if i rember correctly.

There's still plenty of 'Run Kim Run' scenes, though they'll involve jack's new love interest i recon

Or the crappy story line action will be played out by the CTU-Chief's daughter.

Black chick "Give me a job or i'll compromise ctu's security during a terrorist crisis"
Ctu chick "Well weve already violated two peoples civil rights for today, so rather than lock you up and forget about you until its all over, i'll give you a job where you can f*** us about even more"

Yeah, gotta love the 24 way of getting stupid characters into the plot.

It's funny how CTU is meant to be some awesome Government organisation but its security is so lax anyone can get in a become a threat to them.

Still a great show though.

Yeah Jack achieves great results like:

Having his wife raped
Threating to kill his GF
Having his daughter kidnapped 2-3 dozen times
Shooting his lover
Smuggling a gun in to an assain to kill the president
Having his lover kill his wife
Assisting in attempts to blow up the president with a bomb
Having his next lover shot trying to rescue his partner who he was prepared to kill
Cutting off the hand of his partner

And that's just what springs to mind, i'm sure there's other awesome results like that.

I like Jack, i'm just saying that his run-in-all-guns-blazing extreme approach has personal consequences to himself, and in the scheme of things the cost outways the benefit.

He saved some presidential candidate, but lost his wife

CAIR compleains about 24, claims FOX agreed to change some future content to remove stereo types

Fox television bucked current media convention by portraying terrorists as Muslims in its drama series "24," but a controversial Islamic lobby group that complained about the show now says it is "encouraged" after meeting with network officials and winning concessions and assurances.
I thought they had done well in previous seasons playing against the stereo types, where you assumed muslims/arabic-looking-people were the bad guys and they turned out to be good.

I don't normally believe anything CAIR says, so I'm very suss about the claims that they've got parts of the story changed, and wouldn't be at all suprised if they just got told the plot and were happy with it.

Awesome episode

*** MORE POSSIBLE SPOILERS ***

I think i know what it's about. I recon it's environmentalists or Big Oil. They want the nuclear powerplants shut down, and that's why the secretary's son won't divulge his girlfriend/boyfriends details, because they are just a bunch of enviro-hippies and he thinks they mean no harm, or they are a bunch of enviro-hippies being paid off by Big Oil.

heh, the jack bauer power hour.

also, you'd think that after he's saved america this many times, they'd realise he would never betray his country. so it would logically follow that they would not worry about him whenever anything happened. like, they'd never make him a Wanted Man.

Yes, a very cool ep indeed. Nice to see that guys father give permission for CTU to keep up the interrogation. Also, that black chick is f***ing dumb, I so hate her and I'm sick of seeing people easily sneaking into CTU as moles undedected. For a government agency, they really suck.

New Lost out today as well.

And that husband of Jack's girlfriend... who gives a damn about him. He'll no doubt make some scene with Jack and then we'll have to put up with at least 5 - 10 minutes of crap plot that has nothing to do with anything.

As for main story, screw needing to smuggle in one nuke into the country, just orchestrate 100+ Chernobyls.

*SPOILER*

I thought Ep 7 kicked arse. Awesome seeing Tony come back in :) Only problem I'm having with the series so far is I'm a little incredulous about this remote Nuclear controller device thingy that can so easily take control of all the nuclear power stations in the country. It's a bit hard to swallow; safeguards on these stations are very very complex...also, why on earth was it being transported by a couple of dudes on a public train? Anyway, doesn't matter too much, I can suspend my disbelief enough to enjoy the series regardless :)

Ep7 rocked, Tony is such a cainer. I thought at first it was going to be David Palmer that he called, but its even cooler that it was Tony :)

I'm really liking 24 this season, so far I'd rate this on par with the first season, it seems to have that same punch that the first season had. I found season 2 was good up until the bomb went off, then it ran out of steam, and season 3 sucked imo until the virus was released in the hotel. Season 1 is the only season that has really kept up that frantic pace for the entire season, so heres hoping season 4 can do the same.

Holy f***ing s***!!

Episode 8 kicks some major ass all over the place. If you haven't seen it don't read further.

I'm so glad that black bitch got caught, thought she was gonna slip thru again. Tony teaming back up with Jack is very cool and now the mum and son are on the run from the cops and those crazy terrorists.

Been a good week so far, now to watch the latest Carnivale and wait for Thursday for the new Lost ep.

Yeah, glad they caught the black chick and her s*** got f***ed up. Not only was she a really annoying character, but the whole "OMG theres a mole in CTU!" routine is getting pretty stale though.

Still, on the whole, so far the season is pretty cool :)

I hope we've seen the last of the schitzophrenic daughter though. This season doesn't seem to have too many pointless sideplots so far and the mentally ill daughter is one we can really do without.

Note the bigarse clue in the show regarding Michelle - "She's now Deputy Director at Division"

Easy money says that we'll see her in the show before the season is out. What's the bet on either:

a) Tony and Michelle patch things up

b) Tony or Michelle get killed

Also, how long do they want the prez in the air - 8 hour flight and still nowhere...? Is he coming back from Australia or something?
natslovR

He's probably circling to avoid the fallout :)

I recon Michelle will appear. They will patch things up cause Tony once he starts killing badies will realise he made a mistake. Then one or both of them will die

Palmer's gonna be back too. Wonder what he's role will be. Ex-president's don't really do much other than sell books.

We know the bad-guys planned on a nuclear holocaust for north america, but what is their real agenda?

There's certainly a lot of people still apparently in the US answering phones who should be a long long way away by now (less than 3 hours to melt down i thought), which makes me doubt the real plan is the holocaust.

for muslim terrorists, i think poisoning a good portioning of the american motherland, making it uninhabitable and murdering millions of Western infidels is a pretty effective agenda.

also only 6 or 7 power plants are still under the terrorists control so I am assuming that the decision makers are not near those cities that could be affected.

There has to be another mole inside CTU/govt otherwise that is just boring.

Something I've learned from the previous 3 seasons of 24 is that at Episode 12-13, there is a transition of sorts, where the REAL badguy comes out of nowhere, and the dudes running around who you thought were the masterminds, are just pawns.

So I expect that Arnold Vosloo and Mr Araz aren't the real real bad guys.

As for Palmer - shouldn't he be doing time in prison for being an assessory to murder and obstructing justice? (heart attack dude from last season)
Khel

Yeah, theres going to have to be some change in direction, cos the nuclear powerplants are due to melt down in like an hour or two aren't they? Wont be much of a series if that happens and theres still 12 or 13 episodes to go.

where the REAL badguy comes out of nowhere
I don't believe the people with apparent government connections and connections with the nuke-meltdown button are islamic terrorists. Also, there's only a few hours left to the meltdown, and 10+ hours of 24 left after that, so there's definitely more too it than terrorists.

Two things to remember:

1. 24 once before played the muslim terrorist card, it turned out they weren't the real issue.
2. CAIR complained about the negative typecasting of muslims as terrorists in season 4, met with Fox executives, were told the plot, stopped complaining.

I recon it's pretty funny that 'out on a date' is an acceptable excuse for delays in providing a tvrip.. Like everyone that's dependent on a release group getting something out on time totally understand.. A DATE. PROBABLY WITH A GIRL TOO!!!

Thousands of people all over the world waited. I hope he got laid :) (and she felt special)

**** EPISODE 9 SPOILERS ****

Interesting that they could've gone two ways.. show a moving story about someone affected by the meltdown, or show thousands of people panicing to flee and utter chaos. They chose the wrong way, carefactor for one episode character == nil

Slight slip-up too, the guard never said the boys uncle was dead, just that someone was murdered. Jack took a good guess??

Overall a good episode, though the nuclear reactor in the split screen was a bit lame-o.. flashback to the baby in a cribb.

He actually said that "one of the pharmacists" was murdered, Jack just assumed it was the uncle I guess. (Not a huge leap to think that the mother would have told her that the kid was there to see the uncle pharmacist)
