In the last 3 days I've had a fluttering in my ear as well as the general tinnitus that is the side effect of once being a 16 year old teeny-bopper.
Does anyone else get this flutter? I've read on a few sites that it's muscular spasms or some such. Does it go away? :( |

Get the odd one now and again, don't have tinnitus though this crazy weather has given me hell with my ear infections (f***ing things, once you get one, you never really get rid of them).
EDIT: Regarding tinnitus, I believe there can be various causes for it but generally speaking it doesn't go away and the best you can do is manage it. I've also heard that your diet can cause all sorts of wierd anomalies in your auditory system. last edited by sikfalcon at 18:25:23 28/Dec/04 |

Naw, I got it from constantly (and I mean constantly) pumping very loud shrill singing boy bands through my headphones (to the point that I couldn't hear my dad yelling at me when standing in front of me. Good thing I can read lips)
It's more the flutterings that i want to know if they go away.. it so sounds like a moth is stuck in my ear. |

I should have written my sentence clearer.
I have had tinnitus constantly for at least 5 years (oh god do I hate that time when I'm trying to fall asleep.. my neighbours must wonder why the TV is on all night)... but in the last 3 days I've had a flutter noise every now and then. I want the flutter to stop and go away :( |

And I know, I'm past that phase, it's a pity a 22 year old school friend still fantasises about them. 9_9. (shameless bump) |

Dude, if it's dead quiet, and I mean dead quiet to the point you can't even focus on a cricket or cicada outside, EVERYONE i have ever questioned about this gets 'ringing' in their ears. [that's not to say it's normal :P]
I thought it was just myself as well, but it would seem that if you have absolutely -nothing- audible around you, and you're listening for something, you'll get it. Think about somethin else and you probably won't notice it. Unless this is something different and I read it wrong =\ last edited by Loki at 04:00:22 29/Dec/04 |

Loki, night, day, quiet, loud.. it's constant, if I did concentrate on iut it'd drive me mad.
It's worse at night tho' when there is silence... What I'm asking about tho' is a fluttering sound in your ear like something is in there flapping it's wings which, as googled, is related to tinnitus. |

my dad has pretty severe tinnitus. it drives him mad and he would do anything to take back the damage he caused when he was my age...

If I get this later in life is there some kind of compensation I can get from QGL for not allowing me to take speakers to the LAN's?

Loki, night, day, quiet, loud.. it's constant,Sorry, you mean you can hear it even over other audible sounds? That's a bit different then I guess (or maybe a more severe case of?) - Has it just sparked up out of nowhere or have ya been around a loud noise to provoke it? If the latter I reckon it'll probably go away, if it's come out of nowhere, maybe you can get something that'll help *shrugs*. |

As said, it's from listening to music (shrill boy bands in fact) in my youth through very loud headphones :P
Been going on for about 5 years, and yes, it's just a more severe form of, not as bad as most, in fact it is quite mild and I can mostly only hear it when things are quiet... but it's there all the time. s***s me. |

Its an insect burrowing into your ear drum. Stab it with a knitting needle before its too late!
seriously though the ear fluttering/popping whatever i had for a while but it doesnt usually effect me and it kinda feels like its letting out pressure anyway so just make a few noises and it will go after a few min. |

Yeah, get your ears flushed and examined. Most ear-ringing is due to waxy buildup.

So you don't think that in the last 5 years I haven't had my ears checked :/
In fact they were checked a week ago because I was experiencing motion sickness but they're fine. :P I'll tell ya again, it's from over exposure to loud noise over an extend period of time. |
