When it comes to Xmas, saying "Its the thought that counts" is a whole lot of bull s***. Buying a Xmas present for someone means ur reputation as a freind or relative. A piece of useless rope made out of gold will probably get u somewhere thinking that it costs u lots but say.....getting useful car can either degrad or upgrade you.

i say its crazy when it comes to Xmas, all the pressure put on you on a pezzie....

See that is a useful present that can be used but buying a peice of rope made out of gold (eg only) is totaly and utterly useless (not consideraing decorations) since you cant tie anything with it.

If you dont like this thread why did u reply? why didnt you just ignore it? Its not a get to know you survey its not even a survey! Its a simple question not questions, thats what separates from a survey. If you are sick of wankers doing "get to know you surveys" go tell it to them before coming all pissed of at someone who hasnt done anything to you.

Why dont you say this to the other threads which have asked a question similar to mine? and how am I the Insecure lil bitch? im not the one who is rampaging after everyone or everything i dont like?

i am making an example of you, that you are a poofter, especially the part were u said presents are how you are rated as a person.

You obviously are some punk kid who needs a good smashing.

Well in some cases presents do rate you as a person. Our neignbours told us that if they didnt get their relatives/freinds great presents for christams they didnt live up to expectations and lost a lil bit of respect. If u didnt like what i stated, fine thats your opinion but dont go chucking a tantrum at me.

I admit i was a bit harsh about saying the whole "rated as person thing" due to our neighbours and other stories as such but dont go all btichy on me.

your neighbors sound like c*******s. I have less respect for someone who rates people based on how much money they spend rather than someone who doesnt spend money on presents..

holy trip out, I thought it was orbitor that posted #4. I was thinking wtf did he say that for :S

Anyway I paid 100 for sopranos dvd. With family and friends I think its more the thought that counts. But if its for a GF or whatever id put in the money and effort.

My brother is organising it , he said around the end of january cause its pretty booked up :/

Looking foward to it tho :D
Apparently if you smash them you pay the first $1000 of the excess, so if your going to crash, make sure you flip the f***ing thing or something.

Well I kinda got both of the markets covered: was going to go out and lay down a wad of cash (read as big as a meagre student like me can afford) on some jewelerry for my gf. Being she's not really into the whole shiney things i thought i'd get her something useful and opted for the intuos 3 6x8 tablet - $474 (hence the thread a lil while back) and she was wrapped - she does a lot of sketching and drawing etc so the whole tablet thing makes her life a hell of a lot easier.

most I spent was $620
last year for my girlfriends present. I designed and had made an 18ct white gold diamond pendant for her. Got it done at Kratz on Park rd in Milton - great shop, you can custom design anything you want and they can almost certainly make it. I was fortunate in the fact that I didnt have to buy the diamonds as well - I was given them from my gf's mother who was in cahoots with me on it - bout 1/2 a carats worth in six small diamonds (ended up bein worth a lot more than what i paid for it)

Dont think ill be doing that again for a few years though.. but hey - i was still at home then so plenty of cash.. poor bastard this year

Most I spent this year was $60 on one of those Coles Myer gift cards for my mother.

The most I've spent in the past was $250 on a pair of rollerblades, but that was years ago, before I was a broke ass bum :P

I hate buying presents at Christmas, I'm really really bad at it. I usually cop out and buy a gift voucher, or I buy expensive food/alcohol. For my brother this year I got a $20 HMV voucher and a collection of 12 premium beers from around the world, so I covered both angles.

Some years I have a brilliant flash of inspiration and get really cool gifts, most years I just wander aimlessly around shops for hours and hours on end and come up with nothing.
