Anyone out there with a bit of webdesign experience?

I'm great with coding and backend stuff, but layout and graphic design I suck at.

I'm hoping there might be one or two people here that can help me redesign one of my sites: www.equarium.com.au

You wouldn't have to integrate it with any ASP or HTML, I can chop the submission up and code it - all I need is a nice layout

I'm not sure what a fair payment would be but I'm thinking $150-$250 depending on how much work went into it.

I'd like to at least keep the blue fish logo, but even just a fresh look for the front page between the header and footer is fine. All I need is a place for new products and specials.

Need any more info, I'm on icq: 20113311 or msn adam@aspnetwork.biz

I tried to ask around for interested parties on the same kind of thing about two months ago - similar budget and requirements; unfortunately everyone I spoke to never got back to me after initially discussing it.

Pity really, as part of the reason I offered it up was in case anyone wanted experience, but part of experience is actually keeping clients posted and getting back to them :/

yeah, I'll give it a shot.

Raven, didn't Hashy do an awesome design up for you, that you turned down? Must have been someone else.

So you want someone to come up with a picture of what the site would look like with maybe an explantion of it, and you'll cut up the image and write the code for it? I might be up for that. I only do it as a hobby though, so maybe someone who can benift from it professionally would be better. I wouldn't mind the money though. :)

As long as it's capable of being made into a webpage, and remembering that fonts are somewhat limited for browser compatability.

I like how that site has a lowest price guaranteed! then in small print "conditions apply"

then when you roll over the link its like "lowest price guaranteed*"

asterix!! this seems to me like it will be: guarantee not a guarantee.

Well stagrrr, they aren't going to match american prices (in AU$) or wholesale prices because of the extra costs involved for them.

Furgle, why not look through some of the free template sites? I've used a few of them on sites before. Basically they give you a PSD file which you can chop up as needed.

I instantly contacted you and within an hour or two, despite being incredibly busy at the time, I'd punched out a rough design for your critique/suggestions and just to give you an idea of where I saw the design going. We chatted, I sent you some source files, you gave me the links to the old site, I requested a more solid idea of what content you hoped to include and what style of layout you wanted and we never heard from each-other again.

Once more I offered to do it all free and without credit. The design wasn't great, but it was just a mockup I went to the effort of producing, having no real guidelines regarding content/style so we could start bouncing ideas off eachother.

Part of the experience of managing a website is actually keeping your team posted and getting back to them :/

I can offer the name of a guy who does mambo coding...whatever they call it. Don't know the price range and not sure if it is what you are after

Kat, I believe he's after a graphic designer, as he's said he can do all the coding himself.

Hashy - I'll have another look over what you sent me in the morning, however of the guys who contacted me, I got back to most of them and never got a further response. Most of the designs that were given to me were very average (not saying from anyone in particular, just in general), which was cause for concern... I have a meeting with the guys involved later this week, so I may get back to you again then.

Thanks to everyone who's been in contact with me. Definitely lots of good leads (- and some not so good).

So with any luck I should have a new site up and running before the new year.

Hopefully not breaking any rules by reviving this, but it beats creating a new thread.

Big thanks to Steve0 for his design, which is now live: http://www.equarium.com.au/

Here's a link to the old design if you're interested in seeing the difference:
