A friend at work has his heart set on a 20GB iPod and refuses to import one or get it on eBay so just wonder where's the cheapest place one can get a 20GB iPod in Brisbane? Everywhere I've looked seems to have the standard $499 price tag.

if he's a student, you can buy them for under 450 from apple stores with the student discount.

otherwise, get someone with a student id to buy it for him

Yeh, but they're cheaper cuz they're not as good as iPods.

As pointed out, your best bet is prolly the student deal - I haven't seen any retailers selling at lower prices than that.

Apple Resellers wont sell hardware cheaper then rrp because Apple don't like it and we get spanked for it.

If you want it cheaper then RRP simply get a friend with a student id who is currently enrolled into tafe or uni and get them to buy it for you. Easy.

That or if you know someone who is an employee of apple they can get staff discount which is even cheaper then students..... hmm

Just got a 4th gen ipod (20gig) for pretty much the student discount price. So happy with it. Definatly worht the price tag. Its not really taht bad these days. Lots cheaper than that s***ty MD I bought no so long ago :(

edit: Cheaper than a mobile phone and they have way better games (love parachute and music quiz and bricks XD) and they have an alarm clock :P

That cuts out about 2 of the maybe 4 things I use my mobile for :(

Trapper, I think that's a s***ty deal where you get one for $50 if you sign up on some tardy phone plan.

The cheapest prices in Brisbane would be the student discount at the apple stores. They're so much cheaper in the US :( (and yes I am taking exchange rate into account).

Is there anyway in Bris to buy used or refurbished ipods?

Im leaning towards a nomad zen xtra just because they're a more realistic and reasonable price for a portable music player.

ipods are purely for e-penis enlargment.

THere is no way to get "refurbished" ipods. Unless someone trades them in at like cash converters etc.

Or unless places still have 3rd Gen ipods they want to clear.

We have the 3rd gen ipods in store still a few left over, but they are going at the same price as the 4th gen.

Although most ppl dont mind as the 3rd gen ones come with case/remote etc
