If its a 3g one (dock) ipod

flick the hold switch on then off

and hold the TWO MIDDLE BUTTONS (MENU AND PLAY) for about 5 seconds until an apple logo appears

if you've got the new one (20gig click) hold menu and the white button in the middle down at the same time for like 6 seconds, will reset the ipod

I'm not sure if you can do this, but take out the battery? I assume it's a lithium ion one? That how it's done with my zen anyway

Take your ipod to any apple centre (in the world) it "should" still be under warranty, book it in, get them to check the serial number etc they will be able to tell you if you still have warranty.

Most probably have to get sent down to sydney for either repair or replace which takes about a week max.

Yes its a common fault with them when that happens. Take it into any APPLE CENTRE AND GET IT FIXED ON WARRANTY.

We get them in quiet alot

This happens to mine about once a month, if reseting or slamming the menu button over and over just let the battery run out.

And if you read up. its because its a KNOWN f***ING PROBLEM WITH THEM.

So now you know, you cant fix it by yourself, so go take it to an apple centre and get it fixed.

YOu wont be able to fix it any otherway.

So why bother finding out? Apart from knowing its a known problem, needs to be taken back to get fixed/replaced
