well just got out of work,
cold tires, came in hot like i always do on a certin tight corner while braking and chiping the thottle to prevent lockup however the engine cut out(due to low fuel) which locked up the rear wheel no worries, let off on the rear brake still locked but by that time i had reached the corner. so tried my best to slide it round the corner howver with the rear swung out still on the front brake casually, quick as a fiddle the rear gripped like a bitch and threw me up and over the other side that i was leaning. anyways after my quick flight i landed and rolled onto my back and proceded to slide down the road, try keep helmut off the road, lost me shoe(tired to grab it as i felt it come off), up an island, off the other side and stop in the gutter on the other side of the intersection. jump up, run to the bike which stopped when it hit the island(give thumbs up to ppl stopping, wave them on) pull her up, pull the rest of the broken wind screen off, check the steerings still in line, give the thumbs up to more ppl, and check the rest of the bike.. -Broke right hand clutch casing. -Popped the srews holding the front brake reserve.-no brakes. -heaps of scratches up right hand side. -right side mirror.. gone -fuked the fronttop fairing -and other lil bits of cosmetic damage. start her up, wont run till switch tank over to reserve, then WROOM! check me helmut for scratches, nothing :) jump on and ride home(no front brake) thinking how im going to tell my missus that i crashed her lil FZR250.. :| so anyone know a good bike wreakers around moorooka? |

Clap clap for being stupid. I don't think that's entirely fair, the way I read it suggests it's more the fault of the bike running out of fuel causing the back wheel to lock up, so it's more him just being lazy/forgetful to fill it up that caused this. But still, that'll teach you, maybe next time you'll fill it up :) I know you don't really think of stuff during the event, panic sets in and all, but, couldn't you just hold in the clutch lever? Wouldn't that have stopped the rear wheel locking up? last edited by WhoopAss at 14:46:30 29/Aug/04 |

well he is still stupid for not having enough fuel...
also sounds like he hammers it into the same corner all the time, so yes he is silly :p |

whoopass... correct... its what i would have done... roll round the corner... switch to reserve pop the clutch (which would start the bike) and cruise off like nothing happened...
although thats y they give 250's to learners... they can learn from these 'encounters' with out killing themselves to badly... i've crashed a 250 few times... know whats its like... everything seems to be going in slow motion... adrenalin kicks in... and your pumped... till 1/2 hour later when your dead tired.. sorry to hear bout your bike dude |

did I say it was the bike's fault for running out of fuel? ENGLISH MOTHERf***ER! DO YOU SPEAK IT?
I said the engine stopping = rear wheel lock was the RESULT of it running out of fuel, it's HIS fault it ran out of fuel because he didn't fill it up/switch to reserve. f*** you're a retard analrot, troll elsewhere noob. |

I went out for a test ride on a fzr600 91' yesterday, got it sucked. Thank god they threw me onto a suzuki sv650 00' after that, that thing was nice. Can't wait to get one.

couldn't you just hold in the clutch lever?your exactly right, i normally would've done that, but its only a lil low compression FZR250. at the time i thought getting off the brake would've been enough, no big deal,, but nope. yes its my fault for not filling it up, but honestly who gives a s*** when ya just switch her over to reserve. it just happened to die at the wrong time. since i was comming in hot not much time to get outta line. ive had a fair few years on bikes, mostly motocross, so i know exactly what i didnt wrong. it was just one of those hot lines that you dont want anything to go wrong. especially on cold tires.. but i knew i'd get a few d******* replys: Boofe, Heardy, AnaRoT obveously they will never ever crash or brake anything because they are perfect. and will never do anything that is even remotely thought of as a lil bad/fun. what a sad life they must live :) thx for the positive 'chi' everyone else :P its no biggie i'll put it back together over the next weeks if i get enough time off. then its back on for more loveing. XeK yea but you love it :P last edited by Fuknukle at 16:13:01 29/Aug/04 |

it just happened to die at the wrong time. Could it be possible that coming in so hot and jumping on the brakes caused the bike to lose fuel pickup? I know this can happen with cars, so I'm only assuming this can also happen with bikes, but if it's right then it wasn't a coincidence that it decided to die while you were hard on the stops. (ps, also glad that it was just a little damage to both the bike and your pride, and nothing else) |

got any quotes for the repair?
Could it be possible that coming in so hot and jumping on the brakes caused the bike to lose fuel pickup? I know this can happen with cars most modern cars have a little barrier inside the fuel tank to prevent this from happening, most older cars have a reservoir in the carburettor (non EFI cars) so the car won't totally die if it loses pickup while you slap on the brakes. If the pickup is without fuel for a long time then yeah it could happen. Most bikes have a fuel bowl too, on the bottom of the carb. Well, most I've seen anyway (not that I spend a long time looking at them so I could be wrong). |

My old car used to lose all power if you threw it into a hard right hand turn. Carbeurettors suck.

hellooo physics
the higher center of gravity in a 4WD at speed means it is far more likely to roll than a sedan which is lower to the ground |

My poor baby! (the fizzer not pete :P)
Just to clarify to a few ppl that have just said just switch it over and keep going - the fizzer isn't exactly the easiest to switch over. Its not a switch as such - more of a valve that you actually have to turn 180 degrees. Its a bit of an effort - requires you to move your left leg out of the way - and it caused me a bit of issues back in the day. That "warning" i need to be switched over really sneaks up on ya don't it pete :P. Ah well s*** happens - just a couple more cracks/scratches to add to the fairing. And yeah it is just as well it is a 250, the s*** i've done on that bike i'm glad i wasn't on my 600 ;) |

My old car used to lose all power if you threw it into a hard right hand turn. Carbeurettors suck. gemini? mine used to do the same, except left hand corners. Don't let this put you off, if you go sensibly and wear all the proper gear then you should be fine. There is just so much fun to be had. I dunno, I rode a bike a while ago & found it quite boring. Infact the best part was goin too fast & falling off & going for a little flight through the air into some grass. Personally I'd rather go nuts in a car. Probably because I know I'm more safe in there. last edited by WhoopAss at 18:18:22 29/Aug/04 |

No gutter would roll a 4wd, you have obviously never been 4wdriving and seen the s*** they can take before they roll.hahah the other nite i was taking some girls and boys home in my 4x4 and hooked it right on a steep anticamber corner and 'POP' up she went on 2 wheels. had to quickly ease up on the steering and she came back down easy. was funny, the 2 guys in the 4x4 were absolutely s***ting themselves, the chicks loved it. this wasnt on purpose of course, they were giving me directions and gave me them a lil late. remember doin stuff like that scooby? :P last edited by Fuknukle at 18:37:53 29/Aug/04 |
