Topic: My mobo + computer alliance
Tung
Posts: 2285

okay, so last night, while flashing my bios, something happened, and my mobo was rendered f***ed. considering this is the first time in 2 and a half years that ive owned this pc, that somethings gone wrong, i wasnt too plussed, and this morning rocked over to computer alliance to see what could be done.

previously i had only dealt with voodoo, so i wasnt quite sure what to expect, but after koopz came out and brought me into the workroom, i realised exactly why i deal with these people. mad props to koopz and power who did all they can to hunt around for another mobo to hotflash it, but were unsucessful :/

i also remembered why i bought asus, as koopz reminded me about the 3 year warranty... so hopefully it wont take too long, but again, the service was outstanding, and i dont really think it was becuase they knew me, i saw other sales guys treating normal computer noobs with a good deal of respect and patience, mad props to CA, if i ever get enoguh money to start buying computer stuff again, i know whos up there on my list.

maybe im just a lucky guy...

personally i havent had any bad dealings really, ftc computers for my p3 450 was excellent, umart were pretty good with their service, my dealings with computer alliance have been nothing but good, and the disc shop hasnt given me any reason to bad mouth them.

my athlon 1 gig tbird was the only processor/computer that has ever f***ed up, and that was due to via. so i dont really attribute that back, but any f***ed hardware has generally been replaced quickly and efficiently.

my computer setup that i bought 2.5 years ago from computer alliance, up until last night ran perfectly, and had never needed anything replaced or upgraded. even now its still a decent system at p4 2.0 with 512 ddr and a gf3 ti-500

I had a nightmare experience with CA last time I was there. Bought 2 sticks of 512 DDR and one of them didn't work. So I took it back and they swapped it over straight away and I was gone in 5 minutes. Actually, CA have always been good when I go there.

It's not just if we know you but even if you happen to mention to the techs that you are from QGL we generally go the extra yard.

There needs to be some type of secret black mans handshake that QGL members can do to get some type of discount.

yeah maybe I should have mentioned I was from QGL when I went in (3+ years ago) I prolly would have got better service.

I'm sure things have changed though, next time I make a purchase I'll check 'em out - but umart is just so close to me.

I know koopz works there, but I dont ever know which one he is... there are so many bloody people.

Whats his name?

edit: Last guy who served me was a big black dude, probably pakastani or something. He was a bit of a salesman.

CA rocks, disc shop are full of dodgy "salesman" now, they think they know more than they do. Have always had good service with CA, except when i had to deal with Ian, he was a f***. I seem to get Will every time i go in.

Good to see Suhaib......once ya work in the industry and understand what goes into the RMA process then things do become a little clearer.

Also which store do ya work for?

It's a pitty that you have to say "hey im from qgl" to get the service that you should get. Hate to be the poor bastards who get served and don't say they aren't from qgl.
