upgrade-x is pretty good.
i got my s*** done there. really cheap compared with most others. its basicly a guy who does it from his house, he does a few shops in the area. but if you got any trouble he'll help you out as much as he can. really nice guy last edited by Fuknukle at 20:38:14 28/Apr/04 |

yeah had pretty good experiences with him. does a good job and fully explains to you how the whole system works... you could off course just go and buy an xbox and take it to him to mod for you... the price of them these days are crazy... harvey's had them for $199.00 the other day.

get the xenium modchip... its $150.00 but worth it... 5th gen with its own os and you can load upto 5 bios on it... works like a charm and you wont run into problems like some of the cheaper ones.

what benefit does having its own os and five bioses provide over a normal modchip that does naught more than run unsigned code and allow for HD replacement?

what benefit does having its own os and five bioses provide over a normal modchip that does naught more than run unsigned code and allow for HD replacement? I think its only 4 bioses, the 5th bios is considered the original one (ie, botting up with the chip off). But Its not just 4 bioses, its fully configurable flash memory, so you can divy it up however you want (a 1mb bios and two 512kb, or a 2mb bios, or 4 512kb, etc) whic allows for pretty much unlimited expansion if, at some point in the future, someone releases a crazy huge bios that does super funky things. Also, if you were interested in dev, it'd allow you to have the debug bios on there at the same time as any other bioses you wanted. Choosing what bios it boots up with is all done with the controller too, no fiddling around having to hold power buttons down or flick switches. You set one of the bioses up as the default, which boots if no controller buttons are pressed, and the other bioses are assigned to buttons. For example, Holding down X during boot might load bios 1, holding down Y might load bios 2, etc. And I think (from memory) holding down the black button boots with the modchip switched off. It also has built in protection that stops games trying to connect to Live if they try while your mod is switched on (so you wont get inadvertently banned), but I think a couple of other chips do this now too. Above all though, its just a really nice, well made product. Very configurable, very easy to use, very professional. If I had the money I'd go get my generic LPC based chip ripped out and replaced with a Xenium in an instant. |

Also if you don't get a xenium chip you are too retarded to post in this thread.
Too many benefits not to get one and its future ready. |

Eds I have also bought a few chips off him. Very nice guy and I would recommend anyone to go to him.
I also know another guy that got a chip installed from him recently and he is also very happy. Don't go anywhere else. From speaking to him I think quite a few qglers have got chips through him. |

Since this thread seems to be newbie friendly i'll continue to hijaak it.
I dont understand about flashing bioses. I've a xecutor 1.1. My understanding is that it provides no bios flashing ability so i'm still running with whatever bios the xbox comes with. I have to manually patch for 'New Media Check' myself, and games generally don't run if i have the evox software reset enabled. But apart from this i dont have any problems. Should i be able to flash the bios on my xbox to some other bios and that will provide features such as soft reset and inplace NewMediaCheck patching? |
