Topic: Changing DVD region

Hey, I've had mega issues with changing the dvd region on my computer - it won't let me do it.

Someone recommended 'DVD Genie' to do it, any other suggestions?

Currently, the drive is set to '2' when it should be set to '4' (for Australia).
* After further investigation, I've worked out that the DVD isn't locked, because it says I've got 4 changes left, but it won't let me change it*

Thanks,
Lulu

On my Dvd (16 x Liteon) You can change ur region by going into Device Manager and selecting the Dvd Device and changing it that way.

Sorry, my bad, I should've explained more.
I went into that and that's how I found out it was messed up - it won't let me do it.
It mentioned something about administrator privileges, but I'm the only person on this computer....

If you've still got a few changes left then DVD Genie should work fine. It only stops working once the DVD is locked into a region. You can also use WinDVD to change regions as well. I'm guessing PowerDVD would do it too but it's been a long time since I've used it. Maybe too long, damn-it.

Sorry its taken me so long to reply

I've gone through on DVD genie and it allows you to change the options for all players (including PowerDVD) but the region in the device manager STILL says region 2,
should I just leave it?

I've always had the exact same issue with both DVD genie and DVD region killer when I have Alcohol 120% or Daemon tools installed while having a virtual drive enabled or a image that has been previously mounted., and I have been to slack to unmount said image.

Either that or just unlock the drives bios

which dvd rom do you have? there are many firmware hacks depending on the manufucture which will essentially make your rom region free.

Use AnyDVD for a transparent software solution

Oh and im using PowerDVD.

when i click on the "show dvd info" tab in region-free it says the disk is 1,2,3,4,5,,6 so i dont know why it shouldnt work without all these programs anyway :/
