Ive lost my cd key, can u get it back from steam or anything?

ring the distributor for the game or even sierra and tell them you lost it. you may have to scan/fax your cover or CDs to them, and they will give you a new key.

EA did it when my BF1942 ceased to work :(

some bitch has registered my HL cd key with steam. What do you reckon my chances are of them giving me a new one? :P

sorry, thats what i mean, my BF1942 Key was taken and it wouldnt let me play any more games online(and yes i have a legitimate copy).

I dont know what sierras policy on that sort of thing would be, email their support or call them?

Usually, if you have a valid CD Key and its being used by someone else...Then you take a picture of the CD Key and request for a deletion/ban of that key and get a new one.

I belive the reason behind the "go buy it again" is that it's probably going to be less hassle than say "shipping CD's to america"

mooby - i just formatted and didn't even install half life, downloaded steam and didn't have to enter a cd key.

because he lost his one. Seirra can't just give out new keys to people who have lost their own. Otherwise i could "loose" mine (give it to a friend to use) and then ask for another one.

If they ask for the cd's, ill send them back as you don't need them anymore with steam.

Having a copy of your key and it being in use by someone else is a different matter, because in that case Seirra can void that key and give you a new one.

You dont happen to have your copy of HL with that key installed on any computers at all do you mooby?

You also need to prove that you actually did loose your key. That is a bit harder.

Anyone could buy a copy of HL and give it to a friend. Then send back the reciept asking for another copy.
