Quick question for anyone that has an iPod - I'm wondering if you can just copy your mp3s to it via firewire (ie, mount it as a hard disk and then just dump a whole mp3 directory over)? According to this FAQ on ipodlounge.com you can't do it, but I'm guessing this is a feature people would really want, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of any hacks or workarounds that might allow this to work?

Actually, this looks like it might do the trick! Anyone tried it?

I use ephpod
With the ipod, because of its mp3 database, you cant just copy and paste onto it in explorer, but you can drag and drop from explorer to ephpod and it will copy and update the mp3 database. sure beats mmj. ephpod is still beta though, and as such has a few extra "features", so make sure there is nothing mission critical on your ipod. I've had to format mine a few times (4 or 5 or so) when the FS has been screwed. |
