Hey guys i've been trying to network my bros comp with mine so he can use the internet through mine. BPA Cable. IM using BPA login and i have followed http://www.ozcableguy.com/cableicsxp.html#summary guide.

Problem. I can't see or even ping his comp and the ip's are all setup correct according to the guide. I've checked the cable etc nothing wrong with it.
Anyone got any ideas?

If you are using a switch or hub you are using normal cables?

If you are using a direct connection the cable is a crossover cable?

Thats bizzare if you have set everything right as in that guide it should work.

Double check both IP address etc, 1 digit wrong could be making it not work.

Try a reboot I remember having strange ping probs once when setting mine up first time, rebooted both machines and walah it was alive!

Only other thing I can think of is that the cable is fuxed!

You sure you don't have blue cable instead of read? Or that you have the little box thing on master pc?

Check:

* Each box's NIC is correctly identified and the appropriate drivers installed in Windows
* You network cards' LEDs light up when the cable is connected (if this doesn't occur, it generally means bad cable)
* If you're not running a DHCP server, make sure both IPs are in the same subnet (and obviously are the same network class).
ie 192.168.0.x
* Make sure both computers aren't both running DHCP serving processes (this can be funny) :)
* Always attempt a simple ping test and work from there. Ping yourself (as this request goes down to the network level) to prove your network drivers are functioning correctly.
