I just purchased a RICOH DVD-RW and the burning software that came with it appears to be dong (it even asks me to purchase the burning software online, tho i understood it was free with the burner!)

Anyway, it looks cheap and dodgy anyway ("neoDVD" anyone?) and i want ppl to suggest some good DVD burning software out there. At this point all i wanna do is backup my MP3 collection (and maybe backup a few DVD's around teh house... :)

Anyone know some good progs? Im intrested in both free and pay-for programs...

hope this makes sense as i am a DVD newb ( i just want it to work like a CD-burner!)

cheers

Nero. It's free for a month. That should get you through your MP3s.

I've got nero 5.5 and can use it to burn DVD's with (data) for video dvd's I used cyberlink power producer(came with my burner) or intervideo windvd creator (came with my motherboard, yeah motherboard, go figure). To the juarez monkeys out there, I've only ever made DVD's out of videos I've taken myself with my DV camera, I don't know if any of those programs will allow you to actually copy a DVD and frankly I don't care.

yeah but nero 6 sux, you can't just upgrade 5 with it, you have to buy 6 even if you own 5 which I think is a load of s***. It's the same bloody program just a different version of it. I'll stick with 5.5 thanks

if you get nero with a drive it's usually locked to that drive, which is why it doesn't recognise your new one.
