Compared to the star wars prequels, with fagets with short hair that prance around overacting (or not acting at all).

Better than a movie just filled with shots of the characters looking profound and heroic, engulfed in light and standing in ridiculous statuesque poses.

brett Gimli is in the trailer, albeit only in a quick flash so its hard to notice him.

Peter Jackson commented in the narrative on the FOTR that he didn't have Narsil since the start because he thought it would look silly Aragorn running around with half a sword for the first half of the FOTR.

Its not the worst change Peter has made to LOTR, and I think its understandable that Aragorn doesn't recieve Anduril (reforged Narsil)until Return of the King.

Basically, it rocks, cos its a movie, and not a book. If you want it to be the same, go read the book!

1) Minis Tirith, outside the gate on the planes of Pelennor (I think)

2) outside the black gate of Mordor

yes i have read the books but it was a couple of years ago so i cant remeber it all.

btw it'd be a nice way to finish the movie IMHO to have like a 2 minute 50yrs in the future fly by of Middle Earth

i.e just really quickly flying over the new Minis Tirith with the Mithril Gates and all the elven trees growing there then to the woods of the ents, to the new orthanc, the tunnels that Gimli's folk build in the cliffs of helms deep etc etc.

I never actually bothered with Lord of the flies, i mean rings.... maybe cause i thought it'd be too long and boring and i couldn't stand 3 hours of listening to elvish jibberish only to get one half decent fight scene at the end. But hey dont take my word, cause i only half assed watched it.

Lord of the rings is such an awesome break from the cops & guns/romantic comedy bulls*** that we're fed over and over again in the cinemas.

I enjoyed both the first 2 immensely but from what i've heard the 3rd one is supposed to be the best by a country mile.. we'll see.

If you read the books again brett you'll notice that the sword isn't reforged until the fellowship arrives at rivendell.

Aragorn (strider) only has half a sword at Bree etc up until then.

The Palantir don't really contain evil (they were crafted by feanor of old), merely that the evilness is the other user on the other stone - in this case Sauron.

They'll show Pippin looking into the stone in ROTK and meeting Sauron no doubt.
