I think the GCN should have been around $100 cheaper than all the other systems the entire time...thankfully it is now. Actually how much is a PS2/Xbox these days? $300 or $350?

was trying to work out what pong had to do with a gamedude price drop :/ The slogan at the top right reads "Time to update your gaming". So i guess if you were still playing pong, then a GC would be a good option? Wheras anything post-pong would probably be better than a GC? |

Best is around christmas when they bring out the "deals" or the "after christmas sales"
This year they'll prob bring out packs with the network adaptor(sony) and Live Kit (xbox) |

The general belief is that PS2 price won't shift, but Microsoft might drop the Xbox...either that or release a new bundle or something. Nintendo believes that most people will buy a PS2 first, but the GCN being $200 makes it cheap enough to be a second console.

Yer, the Network adaptor will sell like hotcakes, although it seems the XB Live is alot better, more support for the"other" games. Sony have stated they would spend $2m a year on servers in OZ for banwidth hungry games (fps) but o/s servers for others

Both of which are also on PS2 and Xbox! I really don't think someone that proclaims Xbox superiority can talk about exclusivity of titles..... As far as being worried about "non-cartoony" games..well perhaps you should prove your manliness in other ways, other than playing non-cartoony titles. |

I really don't think someone that proclaims Xbox superiority can talk about exclusivity of titles I was just making the point that the games he chose as the ones worth getting a Gamecube for, are also on all the other consoles, so it makes the argument kind of weak. |

i know that they are on ps2 and xbox but he asked if there were any games out there that were worth getting on the Gamecube so i named some.
i was answering this: my brothers just brought one today for $194 at kmart which came with console control and zelda and they are chuffed as with it. They havent moved for 5 hours playing super smash brothers. I'm still iffy on it cause i havent seen any non cartoon games yet |

I agree with Khel's statement about everything being on all machines. I mean we all know Gamecube is struggling Ps2 is main stream and Xbox is the powerhouse, but its about the games and what we enjoy everyone is different, some ppl hate the cube some ppl love it other ppl will play it every now and then, there are more mature games on it compared to the 64 games. Soul Calibur 2 is stated to be "better" on GC, with all the lightning effects etc, thats all fine and dandy, but then the Xbox steps in with its HDD and anything open area of course Xbox will look better, then we have the games which are just ps2 ports GAY.
Have you all forgotten that the GPU in the ps2 actually s***s over anything xbox has, but its because of f***ed up bottlenecks in the architecture that stop anyone from doing anything about it. The GC is dying hardware wise, Nintendo have even stopped making them, but theres obviously enough support for them to keep on pushing software. Every system has their goods and their bads, Nintendo sometimes just has the bads then all of a sudden brings out "the s***" (metroid zelda ED TS2 SC2 etc etc) Then we have Mario Kart/Animal crossing etc etc, which ppl will say is "awesome" then we have the ppl saying "its just a rehash" well everygame in history is just a rehash apart from a few. GC has died in the arse because of poor advertising etc Xbox is going rampant i mean i fkn saw XBOX splashed all over the back of the cheerleaders at the footy game last night (or night before) and PS2 is still going strong, Who the f*** cares man. Every system has s*** games and good games, it just seems certain machines have more s*** ones then others. We are just starting to get into online console gaming here in Australia and if Nintendo dun hop on the bandwagon thier gone, but ppl like gamespy are creating middleware so we'll see what happens. The good thing about this period for the cube and Xbox is that they are finally starting to push the machines to what they can do. Can't wait for this time next year. (soz, thats my 2 cents) |

Its no real secret that the XBox's success was largely due to MS's pimpin advertising campaign, they got their product out there, and with the help of a decent game or two, made it the "in thing" to have. Nintendo on the other hand, kept rather quite about the GC, which is a shame, because having played on both, I'd most definately rather have a cube. Of course, I adored Sunshine, wtf is wrong with cartoony games :p

Nintendo always keep quiet, i mean i personally can't remember any advertising for a game or hardware BEFORE it came out until Mario Kart 64 and the Nintendo 64. I mean in Japan they never advertised the gba nor here either but then again in japan they needn't worry, but they don't advertise UNTIL things come out. As for ur question, yer i do, but im more into the gaming side then retail side, ive been gaming for years
