When Valve announced Half-Life 2 in early May, some were surprised by Valve's firm insistence that the game would be ready to ship on September 30. Today we received word from the game's publisher, Vivendi Universal, that Half-Life 2's release has been delayed until later this year. Without commenting on the delay, a Vivendi Universal representative reaffirmed that the game would ship this year, sometime during the holiday season.

I guess this comes as a result of some pressure being eased up on them from doom3 being delayed.

It's not a good look though giving a specific date then delaying it. It's a perfect example why id never give a date until it's pretty much out the door.

i think its good, like trog said in an earlier thread... about how the games comming out are all bug ridden and crap.. i think that if they are delaying it so it WORKS better then delay all you want.

Interesting enough the head developer of HL2 wasn't aware the game had been delayed :)

haha. Funny if the 'its not delayed' is a fake. I hope HL2 hasnt been delayed. It would cain if it came out in september (without bugs due to rushed release. fingers crossed)
