hey all I'm after a little help.
I'm using a gf4 ti4200 and trying to set up dual monitor support under winxp. I want to be able to use my regular 19" sony as my primary monitor at 85hz in desktop and games (using reforce to set 85 hz).
I also want to use a 17" olympic tft as the second monitor plugged into the dvi port, and run it at 75 hz.

This is working at the desktop, but as soon as I load a game now, i'm automatically dumped back to 60hz and the second monitor says it gets no signal.
Is there any way to keep a desktop on the second monitor while running a fullscreen game on the sony?

Thanks.

short answer - no.

the only way you could keep the desktop on one monitor is if you use multiple desktops (fond in the nvidia control panel under desktop shelll extention or something like that)

or run the game with the window maximised

ok no worries...
but can you tell me why reforce has suddenly stopped working and my games are running at 60 hz instead of 85?
is there another program out there that may be more successful in setting refresh rates in openGL?

thanks again.

or use powerstrip to lock it at 85 hz works for me, and use ultramon to control the monitors rather than the nvidia bs.

? I admit i'm not sure what's really controlling my dual monitor setup, whether it's xp or the ati drivers, but i can run games on my main monitor and keep the desktop on the second - it's handy for keeping winamp or {insert file sharing app of choice} open so you can keep an eye on them.

Don't use WindowsXP Nview. Very very gay. Use ultramon mate. Can be found through google.

What do you mean? So it only comes up on one monitor? Are you mirroring or and extended desktop. If its an extended desktop there should be start button on your primary monitor. Im not sure why it would be on both.

i am extending. i was wanting the entire start bar, including the systray to be on the primary monitor, with none on the second monitor.
is this possible?

yea i kno wat ur saying, i have it extended along both monitors (but thats just personal opinion)...if you can do it in nView...just do it in nView, who gives a shait if u can do it in ultramon or not

personally i think it looks like ass on only one monitor :S cos you just have this huge space on the 2nd monitor..as though something should be there
