damn i didn't get it right... :(
i thought maybe her sister dressed up like a man and she was infuriated with her prank... and i'm not even kidding, i was seriously trying to work out that possibility, but there wasn't enough information to suggest that... |

I said she probably killed her sister because her dead mother had risen from the grave and was commanding her to kill. Boy I'm glad I got it wrong, I wouldn't want anyone to think I'm karazy ;D

I thought several things:
Maybe she dosnt want her sister getting the guy (allthough how could she, unless she also met him.) I also thought maybe she did her mother in and was just following with the sister. I also thought that perhaps she was already upset with her mothers death and the frustion of not knowing or ever meeting this dreamguy brought her to kill her sister. I had 3 goes and got them all wrong :( |

Errr, given the information, what else are you supposed to 'think'... (b.t.w I cheated and just skipped straight to the answer)
I dont see how it makes you think like a psychopath. Your analysing the information given to the most likely possibility. Since it says she killed her sister, wanted this guys number blah blah blah, and then specifically asks you what's her motive, the quickest response of course will be to the relevant material, trying to relate it to the guy. Its a natural thinking reflex to relate your answer to the given information. You will find most people will think she killed the sister for a different reason until you ask "what was her motive" In which case it makes the person really question her reason based on the information given - and that is, wanting to kill her for that fella... Its a fairly reasonable answer and doesn't prove much at all. Your analysing someone else's actions based on very little knowledge and from what you are given, its deliberately spoon-fed to try to give you the thought that she killed her sister for the guy. I think the test is better to show whether you 'think outside the square' or not. Whether you just take the information around you/fed to you and analyse it to form an answer, or consider other options/have an open mind. |

Loki, you have read the responses from what people have written down. If you had of done the question properly, that is, have a think about it. Sure in Hindsight it is easy to say why she did it, but would you have got the 'correct' answer without seeing it?
I had a good think about it and when I read the 'correct' answer I was like.. well yer that is actually pretty obvious. Also a phycopath dosnt mean your a killer, it is a personality type. It is similar to the expirement where a bunch of phycs had people listen to various music with interest on If the lyrics of songs affected the mind. One way they tested this was to have a simple word with a letter missing and you have to fill in that missing letter. One word they used was h_t. What they found was that the people listening to volent lyrics were much more likly to fill the h_t with and i to make hit. While the other group were more likly to make a more peaceful word such as hat. I guess what this question is saying is that people with a phycopathic personality are much more likly to come up with the correct answer, dosnt mean someone without a phycopathic personality cant come up with the answer nor does it mean that a phycopath will answer it correctly, they are just more likly too. |

While the other group were more likly to make a more peaceful word such as hat. I filled it with an O to make HOT... :D In the "wow she's hot" sense :) What does that make me? And Toll - No I wouldn't have gotten the correct answer, I would have said I didn't have anywhere near enough evidence to form a proper opinion on her motive :P Or in other words:- 'No Idea' :) Maybe she was having a tantrum for being such a stupid idiot for not asking him for his number, and accidently hit her sister over the head with a brick... twice :) (j/k) |

Wouldn't, if you were a pschyo you'd explain how you killed your sister?
Like hog tied her and slowly drowned her in a bath full of sheeps blood while you stab her eye balls with white-hot metal stakes? |

Kandy, a phycopath isnt a Killer. A killer is a killer.
You can have phycopathic scientists, teachers, engineers, taxi drivers (I'm sure we've all had a ride with them) and so on. Loki, there is enough evidence to say why she did it. Mother Dies. Funeral. Guy at Funeral... Death, Funeral. Guy.... Kill Sister, Funeral and the Guy should be there again. 'Cause and Effect' :p What it is sayign is that people with phycopathic tendancies would have the sort of logical thinking that would have them more likly to quickly come to the conclusion that if they cause another funeral the guy would appear. You are saying that you dont have enough information to come to any real conclusion.. that is because of the way you think, your probably not a phycopath :p |

Well, I mean, the dude might know the mother, but not the sister right...
So the rest of the information (She killed her sister) is bullocks and useless :) So yeah, I can't really form any real conclusion :) I know what it was saying though. Loki, there is enough evidence to say why she did it. Mother Dies. Funeral. Guy at Funeral... But this is what I was saying, this is the only evidence you are given... The evidence that points to her killing the sister for the 'cause and effect' approach of getting him to appear again. I understand what its sayin, but what I'm sayin is that there really is only one answer (that she killed her to get the guy to come back). Whether you get it right or not determines if your (more inclined to be) a psychopath. Problem is, someone might get it instantly (first assumption), whereas someone might consider different possibilities before drawing the most logical conclusion given the information provided. And thus, get the right answer, but after considering what they know about the situation first (which isn't a hell of a lot - and seems, to me, deliberately to lead to the 'cause and effect' answer as you said)... Still - I leave my answer at not being able to draw a -reasonable- conclusion... (innocent until proven guilty?) I reckon that fill in the missing letter is a tad better, since there is a vast number of answers to choose from, with no analysis of any information to be mislead by - only your initial thought... |

Aye and this is why it isnt a definate, just that evidence points that those with psychopathic tendancies would see that killing the sister to see the guy would be a doable approach and stop reasoning there.

I got the answer correct. I thought of the question and came up with 2 answers.
My first answer was that she killed her sister because she was jealous because she found out that her sister knew the guy and was sleeping with him. I chose to stick with the second one because it seemed to be the most correct answer to me. Took me 30-60 seconds to think of the answer. I just took the thought of the man and the admirer into my head and then thought about death = man appear. Like when a baby cries, the mother would go to the cradle and stop it from crying, so the baby gets his reward. I can assure you I have no killer nature in me. |

Personally I think how your answer the question would give some form of indication of your personality type (obviously). For example, if you answered "correctly" i.e. she killed her sister so that she could see the guy again, might indicate that you're thinking like a phycopath -- supposely.
I personally don't to agree with this assestment but then again I'm not a phyciatist nor I belive this is a genuine test (I did get this an email after all) :). However, lets just say if you answered, "I have no comment" or cheated would also indicate that you're not an impulsive person i.e., the kind of person that do not make a rash decision quickly or make your decision based on fact. I just think it's interesting to read the answers the question in this thread. I myself thought that she killed her sister because her sister had an affiar with him and she found out later etc. I reckon we need more of this kind of questions :) Anyone doing phy. at Uni what to post the questions ???! :) |

Toll, yes I think so. I think they use similar test for jobs that are physologically demanding like Police, ASIO job or maybe even the SAS.
Obviously how they interprete your answers is subjectvie. However, don't forget that it also based on statistics. I mean those people who administer the test would know what kind of answers they're looking for. Since your answers would indicate your personality type -- if you're being honest in your answers. Couple that with good Statistical analysis, I think it would be a pretty powerful and accurate reprentation of your personality. Obviously this one test won't to do it properly you'd probably be required to do a whole heaps of different things. It's interesting nonetheless though. :) Like I said if anyone come across any more questions like this just post 'em (as long as they're within reasons) I don't mind being a test subject ;). |
